Change item type / smart filters

I'm a new user - just installed 1Password for Mac today. I was really looking forward to this replacing my combination of KeepassX and Lastpass. But I have two main questions I haven't found in the support documentation:
1) Isn't there any way to change the type of item? I imported about 150 items from my KeepassX database, and EVERYTHING is listed as a Login item (even my software codes, etc). I've tried dragging it to the Software icon, copy/paste, but nothing works. I'm really hoping I don't have to manually re-create each item to put it in a proper category. Actually I'm not sure I would even bother - isn't it just as well that I have a folder called "software" or is there some benefit to using the pre-built categories? I think I saw something in the documentation about varying levels of encryption by category.
2) Is there a simple way to filter for all logins in a particular folder? I was planning to break down my items into a Personal folder and a Work folder to start with. However, I can't find a way to filter for only logins that are in the Personal folder, etc. I tried doing a Smart Folder but apparently Smart Folders don't have "Folder" as one of the items to filter by?? The only solution I see so far is to create a tag for each folder, then tag each item in a folder with the folder name, then create a Smart Folder using the tag as a filter - there must be a better way to do this right?

The short answer is: not presently. As you noticed, there is not presently a Smart Folder criteria for "Folder." This is something we are considering for a future release. In the meantime, please consider sorting by item type within the folder. The Logins will be grouped together.
