Empty Trash (in 1Password app), it re-populates with same entries

I just updated to version 3.7.5.BETA-3 (build 31103) & beta 13 extension. After the install of one of these updates all the old folders that I had deleted reappeared. I have tried to delete them but they just come back. I have cleared the cache and rebuilt the data file but the problem persists. Any thoughts?

    I have the same problem:

When I delete a folder within the mac app, within a few seconds it re-appears.

This problem also seems to exist in the release version of 3.7.5 (Build 31105) and the beta 15 extension installed on OS X 10.7
  • I see this same issue in 3.7.5 in OS 10.7.
  • Hi folks,

We've been able to reproduce this here and we're currently looking into the cause of the issue. What we have found though, is that uninstalling the Safari extension from Safari > Preferences > Extensions and then deleting the folders does the trick. You can then reinstall the extension from 1Password > Preferences > Browsers.

If you're using Lion, make sure you quit Safari with Command + Option + Q after installing the extension or Command + Q if you're using Snow Leopard as the extension won't be able to work with active pages until a restart is performed.

Let me know how that turns out,

[s]I just tried that and it didn't work for me.[/s]

    I'm (now) using:

    Mac: 3.7.5

    Safari ext: 3.7.b16

    Safari 5.1

    Snow Leopard

[s]The folders stayed deleted only until I restarted Safari with the extension re-enabled.[/s]

Correction... that has worked for me!

I first only disabled the extension; that didn't work.

    Unistalling it did.

Many thanks for the quite acknowledgement and sugguestion.

  • Stu,

Uninstalling the extension worked for me as well.

    Thanks.

This suggestion worked for me as well...

  • Hi,

I am testing the demo of 1Password to see if it is worth the spend to replace the open source options I use.

However, I have come across an issue that has me very concerned. I have repeatedly tried to delete various folders from an import I did, but they keep returning.

One interesting thing I have noted is that they can be triggered to return by trying to download a new preview thumb for an entry (can be any entry). So perhaps this is triggering some kind of cache issue. I have tried the options like clearing the cache using the troubleshooting section of the help menu, but nothing has worked.

This renders this software useless to me, which I am quite disappointed by, as at first it seemed like it may be worth the expenditure.

I would love to be able to think this software could work for me <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Merged with another topic on the same issue <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
  • I've culled a lot of my logins in 1Password, and they are in the Trash. When I empty the Trash, they go away, but a few seconds later, they start filling the Trash again, one by one (I can watch the list as it grows). My keychain file is in a Dropbox folder; does this have something to do with it?

I had the same problem (using Snow Leopard and Safari 5.1). One of the administrators said to uninstall all of your 1Password browser plug-ins and reinstall them. I found that I just had to do that with the Safari plug-in (and afterward realized that it had not updated in a while even though it was set to auto update). I uninstalled the Safari plug-in (with 1Password not open) and quit Safari. Then I opened 1Password and emptied the trash. After making sure Dropbox updated and the data did not reappear, I quit 1Password, restarted Safari and restarted 1Password which prompted me to install the Safari plug-in. I repeated that on any other computers that were sharing the same agilekeychain. I hope it works for you as well.

The problem still exists...with every update all my deleted folders return. At least I don't have to remove the safari extension to remove the deleted folders but it is a pain to have to delete them after every update. Any chance of getting this fixed?

    Hi Kirkmc,

This was a known issue with an older version of our extension and 1Password. Please ensure that you're running at least 1Password 3.8.1 on your Mac and 1Password extension 3.7 in Safari.

If Safari doesn't auto-update the extension to 3.7 or you're still having the issues even with the latest versions, please do a reinstall that Irelander suggested. Open Safari and go to its Preferences > Extensions. Select 1Password and then press the "Uninstall" button. After that, open this page in Safari 5.1: http://help.agilebits.com/1Password3/extension/mac.html

Press the download button next to Safari 5.1 and then follow its instructions to install it again.

I hope that helps, please let me know how it turns out.
