importing from RoboForm
VSI
Junior Member
Greetings,
I have been using 1Password on my Mac for sometime now and could not get by without it. So when I saw there is a BETA of 1Password for Windows, I immediatly downloaded it.
On my Windows system (Windows 7 - 64 bit) I have been using RoboForm. It is a nice piece of software, but I like 1Password much more.
My question, can I import the RoboFrorm data into 1Password or is that going to be a manual process?
If it is currently a manual process, could that be an added feature in a future release?

VSI, welcome to the forum!
At this time, only 1Password on the Mac has an importer built in. It can import the "printed" lists of Roboform Logins (PassCards) and SafeNotes.
We do intend to implement data import (at least for delimited text files, like CSV) in a future release, but there's no information about exactly what form it might take or when it might be available.
I'm sorry we don't have a more satisfying answer for you.Flag 0 -

I'm a long time user of 1Password for Mac and have been using RoboForm for my PCs. I'm really disappointed that the PC version (I just bought a family license) cannot import RoboForm. If that had been make clear during the ordering process I would not have bought it.
Update: Dumb old me!! All I had to do was print the RoboForm Passcards (1 column) and Safenotes in HTML to my PC hard drive shared folder, then import the files into 1 Password on my Mac, then put the AgileKeychain into DropBox, then, finally, open the Keychain in 1Password Dropbox folder on my PC and voila !Flag 0 -

I'm glad to hear you worked it out, Bob. Thanks for letting us know!
That's what I was trying to convey, back on July 7:

I should've been more explicit, though, as I was in another thread, today—sorry about that!Flag 0 -

Could that be a possibility to help other windows users to import stuff? My wife uses win - is there a freeware/cheap tool that collects passwords on the windows-side and delivers a file, that is readable/importable into 1Password on my Mac? At least a way to get all those stored passwords from Firefox would be great - that is her main browser.Flag 0 -
JoergW,
Is she using RoboForm? If so you/she can follow the steps I outlined. If not, then if you can export in CSV format you can still import into 1Password.

Heh heh. Co-founder Dave is plenty sharp. You probably shouldn't hand in your notice, at work. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />Flag 0 -

Right now, she doesn't use any password safe except her own brain <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> and the functions found in Firefox. That's why I asked for a tool to collect those an get them into 1Password...
I saw that Roboform has a free version to test with - but missed an IMPORT section in their manual/FAQ.
I will give it a try to see if it can get the data out of Firefox as needed..

Just throwing in my feedback, FWIW:
I bought 1Password 2.x. Was happy to have some kind of RoboForm alternative for Mac. Imported my Robo data - which resulted in a decent percentage of them miscategorizing the actual login during form submission - but still kept plugging along. I eventually got to the point where I was losing information that I entered rather than imported into the Mac version because of the one-one-way syncing, and I started just using the product in read-only mode. Since Robo added their bookmarklet login feature, I've stopped using 1Password completely (and I never upgraded to 3.x).
Fast forward to the beta announcement for Windows, which made me look forward to finally having a full cross-platform solution. But then I found out that the Windows beta doesn't yet import Robo data. If it had, I might have already pre-ordered. Since it hasn't, I'm wondering if or when I'll go through the export Robo / reboot to Mac / import to 1Password / save data or sync to Dropbox / reboot to Windows / import to 1Password cycle. So count me as another that would really like the Robo import feature, if only for easy demoing to see if I want to upgrade on the Mac side and buy on Windows. Until then, I'll probably stand pat.
Looks like you folks are supporting customers very well via the forums. Thanks for that, and the products! I hope the features come quickly <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -
I too will be working on converting my Roboform password management to 1password so I can stay in sync and manage data across all platforms (ipod, ipad, iphone included)
however I would add/agree that an automated process to convert from Roboform is highly desirable.
I know you have a lot to do but suggest you keep this near the upper half of your list.Flag 0 -
If someone could send me a RoboForm PassCards export, that would be great. stefan AT agile DOT wsFlag 0
