Multiple profiles in Chrome [added in 1.0.9.BETA-275]

I've noticed in build #275 this feature has been implemented! Just wondering how to configure it though - my extension still can't seem to connect to the helper.

It should "just work". How have you created/configured the other profile?

I think the feature I was looking for is something different from what was just implemented. I noticed that in Chrome you can create multiple user profiles and sync to different google accounts. I assume this is what is now supported? <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

However, what I'm trying to do (as mentioned earlier in this thread) is run Chrome from a non-default user data directory. My chrome shortcut is as follows:

    C:\Files\Chrome-bin\chromed.exe --user-data-dir=C:\Files\Chromedata

I'm guessing this new feature simply supports multiple user profiles (as can be created in the Chrome settings) under the default directory %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Google Chrome - but correct me if I'm wrong! <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Correct. We support the "new" concept of multiple users as introduced by Chrome 16.

While still supported by Chrome, I believe this "old" concept is now deprecated.

    Correct.
  • Ah ok, thanks for the clarification, I was hoping this would solve my problems as unfortunately my corporate antivirus prevents the creation of a chrome directory in application data... Thanks for continuously adding new features though! I'll keep using Chromium which works because the antivirus does not block the Chromium directory <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

    Haha I'll try not to <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Oh by the way, thanks a lot for supporting Comodo Dragon in the latest release! I can now finally use a stable Chrome-based browser out of the box! (They haven't managed to block this one yet <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />)
