Keyboard shortcut to copy password to clipboard is Option-Command-C

When I have to fill in credentials for non-browser applications, this is what I currently do:

-tab to switch to 1Password

-F to focus the search field

type ahead to match the desired application

hover mouse over "password" field to manually copy password to clipboard
Being able to do step 4 via keyboard would be a huge improvement! Please let me know if I am missing something, e.g. if this feature already exists or if there's an alternative workflow that you could recommend.

Best, Rahel

Welcome to the forums, Rahel. Thanks for asking about this. Try pressing ⌥⌘C (or, alternatively, hold down the Option key and select "Copy Password" from the Edit menu).

  • In my 1Password [Version 3.9.6 (39600.038)] is no 'Copy Password' menu item. Is there any way in the actual version to copy the password via shortcut, because using the mouse for this is very annoying.

Welcome to the forums, lofyr! As I mentioned above, you need to HOLD DOWN THE OPTION KEY in order to see the "Copy Password" option in the menu. You can click on the menu and then press and release the Option key to see the menu command change right before your eyes from "Copy" to "Copy Password".

As I also said above, the keyboard shortcut is ⌥⌘C to copy a password. This is also shown in the menu just like all the other keybaord shortcuts for the various menu commands. This is the same in every OS X app. They always show the keyboard shortcuts for each menu command in the menu on the right.

I hope that helps. If you're having trouble, you may want to double-check that the Option key is not broken on your keyboard.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with!

No worries! I'm just glad everything is working as it should. For a moment, you had me worried that there was a bug we needed to fix. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Enjoy the rest of your week!
