Support for Firefox 7

Same here.

I'm currently trying 1password because SPB Wallet has obviously stopped supporting their product. I looked at SafeWallet, and they don't offer a way to navigate the wallet to choose a website to login to on their browser extensions. I'm willing to pay the cost, although it is steep. I have come to grips with manually migrating my data. I'm even willing to hold my nose and sync with dropbox if I have to, although I don't see how moving my security data to the "cloud" to sync goes with a security app. Wi-Fi or even wired sync would be preferable.

However, Firefox is my browser of choice. and it's not working. Firefox 7.0.1, browser extension 3.9.0, and 1Password 1.0.9.23

Same ever counting safe picture as referenced above. This is a killer for me as far as purchasing this product. And I've looked at them all.

SPBWallet has died due to lack of support, I guess I'd rather find out this one is the same way now than after I've paid.

And I agree with sankuru, deleting firefox and all profiles to get this to work is unacceptable as well.

Please update both Firefox and 1Password to their latest versions (10.0.2 and 1.0.9.283 respectively), and try again.

I installed Firefox 10.0.2 along side my 3 and 7 versions. I created a new profile, for testing. The unlock for 1Password now works.

However, this extension doesn't function like the Go & Fill Login extension that is for IE. IE navigates you through the folders, while it appears that in FF it is just a flat list of sites. Is this correct? Navigating the folders is very important to me, I have similar sites for various customers and myself, and being able to go to my business folder, then choose the customer sub folder and then see what logins are available for that customer is very important.

I've only added two cards for testing, each in a customer folder under my company folder. In the IE extension I navigate the folders as I hope. In FF I just see the two cards, nothing about the folders the cards reside in. When I add all my cards, will they just be a big long list in FF?

And, for some reason my post about being able to run back versions of browsers seems to be gone. So I'll ask again. The extension says it supports FF 6+, I was running in FF7.0.1 I run multiple versions of the browsers for compatibility testing and things, and would hope that as long as I'm reasonably current, my password software would work. So although it functions in 10.0.2, dictating the browser version I must be on for the extension to work seems unreasonable.

    Hey Michele,

Thanks for following up on this. I split your posts from the other thread since I believe they warranted a bit more attention.

Only current stable browser builds are supported. At any point we may need to make changes in the extension which could break compatibility with older browser versions. We will never do this intentionally, but we simply don't have the resources to make sure that the extension is compatible with every older version of Firefox since Mozilla is on a 6-week release schedule now. Google started the trend with Chrome and the idea is that the browser is more like a web app. You don't worry about the version, you are just always automatically using the latest version. We didn't make the rules, but we do need to play by them.

Folders are not currently available in the extension (except in Internet Explorer), but you can simply begin typing to search for a login item. No need to click the search button before you begin. You might also consider creating 1Click Bookmarks in your browser. To do so, hold down the ALT key while dragging a Login item into your browsers bookmarks bar. You can create a folder of them right in your browser and then use the "Open All in Tabs" feature for that folder directly in your browser.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with.
  • Thanks for the reply. Bookmarks in the browser don't really help, I use multiple browsers and depend upon the password manager software to provide the access to the various links for me. I'll keep testing and see if the search function might find the links. I had high hopes for 1Password, but password manager folder navigation in the browser extension is really important to me. SPB Wallet has it, but they haven't kept up with support or maintenance of their products. So I'm trying to find a new software.

I used to rely heavily on folders myself, but "type to find" makes searching so easy that I am a convert. Just use the CTRL+\ keyboard shortcut and start typing. Nothing else to click or fiddle with. Press ENTER to Go & Fill the selected Login item. Of course you can also use the arrow keys to navigate, too.

Manually categorizing Login items into folders always felt a bit like alphabetizing my recycling, so I am glad to have a better system. Nevertheless, I know the developers are aware of some requests for folders in the extension and are taking that use case into account. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Let me know how it goes and if you have any other questions or comments.
