1Password can't autofill username and password correctly on a forum

Hi all,

When I go to this site http://www.lqarena.com/index.php and type in my username and password it allows me to logon. If I try to use ctrl + \ to autofill the username and password it does not work, and hasn't worked since the last major Chrome update (works in IE though). I have tried deleting the saved account information and going through the initial process for adding a new password on a webpage, but that doesn't matter either. The only thing that I've noticed is that when I try to autofill the page jumps from the top of the screen, where it fills my username but not the password, to the bottom of the screen before it goes to an invalid login screen. On this forum there is a username and password box at the top of the forum and at the bottom. I have tried deleting the entry in 1Password, and then filling the username and password at both the top and the bottom of the page and then clicking one of the login buttons, but this also didn't help. It's been a few months that I've been dealing with this, and I kept hoping that one of your updates will fix it but nothing yet. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Egads. Thanks for posting that URL, Adam. They are reusing some form field names and the presence of multiple forms on the page also causes some confusion.

Here's what worked for me right now:

    1. Open the main 1Password application.

    2. Create a new Login item. (This goes against our normal recommendation to only create Login items in the browser, but it can be a helpful troubleshooting step).

    3. Enter your username and password.

    4. Use this URL: http://www.lqarena.com/login.php

    5. Save the item, then edit it to set the Submit value to "Never"

You'll need to submit the form manually, but that should get it working for now. I'll pass this along to the developers to see what can be done to improve this. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I hope that helps. Please let me know.

Unfortunately that didn't help, and I followed your steps in order. It still acts like it's trying to fill at the top and the bottom of the page and it auto-submits even though I set it to never. See attached (I removed the username and password). I'm using Google Chrome version 17.0.963.83, and 1Password version 1.0.9.289.

    Thanks again for your help!

That's very odd. It shouldn't submit (or even try to) if autosubmit is disabled for that Login item.

Can you confirm that it is showing as disabled in the extension itself? Click the circled > to the right of the Login title in the extension to view its details.

That should match what you see in the main application. If not, we may need to investigate.

Try saving a new Login (for any site) from within the extension. Does it show up in the main application?
  • The browser was not set to never like you suspected. Once I made that change it is filling the name in the top and bottom username field, but only the password in the bottom password field. Consequently, I have to scroll down to the bottom of the site to login.

FYI, I saved a new password in the Chrome extension and it did show up in the main application.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the update. It sounds like it is "working" but we'll try to improve this in a future update.
