Problem with Firefox 11

Hi,

the Firefox extension doesn't work. I deleted the 1password extension and reinstalled it - but I still get the red exclamation mark and all it says is "connecting".

What happend?

Greetings,

Johannes

I have the same problem. Windows 7 64-bit with all MS updates. Latest 1Password (1.0.9.289). Had extension with a version of 1.x.something with FireFox 10.0.2 working just fine. Updated to FireFox 11, was prompted to update the extension. new one is 3.9.1. Doesn't work - red exclamation mark and if I open it just says connecting. Have removed and re-added, rebooted etc. but no joy.

Need a solution for this ASAP... What can I try / what diagnostics are needed.

    Thanks,

    Chris

Thanks Stefan! In my case it was ESET NOD32 causing the problem, though it has never done so up until the upgrade to FireFox 11 and extension 3.9.1. Most odd. Any idea why this would suddenly be an issue?

    Anyway, all working now...

    Cheers!

I'm glad that Stefan was able to point you to the right section in the User Guide. I explained a bit in my reply to your other post about why things are different now, and the first paragraphs in the aforelinked User Guide page where you found the solution explains more of the specifics:
1Password manages the exchange of data between itself and the browser extensions through WebSocket connections. This allows the 1Password background process to communicate with the browser extensions while still respecting the “sandboxing” rules enforced by modern web browsers. Although they appear as network connections, they are limited to your local machine. These connections are also encrypted and authenticated, so they cannot be used to deliver information to any processes besides 1Password and its browser extensions.

If these WebSocket connections are blocked for any reason, though, 1Password cannot exchange data with its browser extensions. Many antivirus/malware and Internet security solutions also include a firewall and other “protective” features that prevent 1Password from performing its safe and secure functions.
