Syncing with Google Apps Password Sync for Active Directory

Hello,

I'm a 1Password 3 Lion and 1Password Pro for iPhone customer. I just received news from Google Apps about Password Sync for Active Directory.

I've read that you review all possibilities so here's one <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_evilgrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=']:)' />

I'm not network professional at all so excuse me if this suggestion makes no sense. I understand this is meant to sync Windows or Unix account passwords between computers but maybe it can be used for the purpose of sync any type of password? Isn't it an option to backup passwords in the Google cloud and sync them between devices? This may be more interesting than Dropbox or Google Drive, because it would be a protocol explicitly designed for storing passwords.

It may not have the issues of working with networked volumes.

Thanks!

Jonathan

    Hi Jonathan,

What Google announced is only for syncing Google Apps to an existing Active Directory. It doesn't really affect 1Password at all since 1Password only saves passwords on the client side for existing services.

Some kind of SSO would need to be implemented server-side.
