Small search improvement for 1Password

Hi,

When doing a search in 1Password for Windows, there's no one-click way to delete the search and start again. The way I delete my current searches is to highlight the text then right-click -> delete. I'm just wondering if a button (like a cross) could be added next to the done button to empty the current search term with one-click - I think the Mac version has a similar button. Sorry - just a small niggle.

I also remember a sticky in this forum that let you see what features were being planned for 1Password for Windows. I'm just interested if anyone could give some info on what's going in the next version of 1Password for Windows. I'd like to see some Mac features make their way to the PC version - I'm especially hoping for smart folders and three-pane widescreen view to come across. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_yes.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='(y)' />

The x to clear a search field is part of the standard OS X API. We would need to implement it from scratch in Windows. For now I'd suggest just hitting Esc or clicking the Find button to dismiss the search. If you want to search again just press CTRL+F or click the Find button again. Your previous search text will automatically be highlighted and you can press DEL to clear it or — probably the simplest option — simply begin typing a new search term. Since the text is highlighted, your characters will overwrite it. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

As for future features, we don't normally pre-announce anything. There was a very old thread about "known issues" which may have implied that we were promising certain features in the future or with some sense of "sooner rather than later". However, we prefer to let 1Password speak for itself rather than trying to lure people in or string them along with promises of future features.

All that said, I believe 1Password for Mac and Windows will only become more similar as we move forward. I don't mean to be evasive, but we prefer to under-promise and over-deilver rather than the reverse. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Thanks for the reply - I didn't know the x was part of the OS X API. Probably explains why, after my move back to Windows, I haven't seen this feature as widely used as it is on OS X <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

And thanks for the info regarding 1Password's future plans on Windows. It makes sense to release features when they're ready rather than, as you say, lure people in or string them along <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_yes.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='(y)' />
