Safari Extension won't connect

For a couple weeks now, my extension inside Safari won't connect to 1Password. I type in the right Master Password and I get Connecting...and it starts counting. I've let it sit for 50 before giving up. Any ideas? I've tried removing the extension and reinstalling it. The extension also has a little number 1 in a red circle in the upper right corner of the icon.

I have the same problem on my MAS version of 1password with Safari 6 on Mountain Lion. My extension worked despite the constant warning icon about not being able to connect to the helper being shown. Too bad I tried to remedy the issue by reinstalling the extension, as now it just counts whenever I try to unlock the extension. Fortunately my Chrome extension is still OK, but I'd really like to get my Safari 6 back into business as well.

Welcome to the forums, Wallaby97. I'm sorry to hear that you and Roadstar are both having some trouble. You mentioned that you were using the "latest" version of 1Password, but could you both tell me exactly what version of 1Password.app you have installed?

I'm on version 3.9.6 (39600.038). And yes, I know this is the forum for the website version but I didn't see point in starting a new thread for the same issue in the MAS version forum. For extensions I've tried both 3.9.5 and 3.9.6b1.

UPDATE: Now when I installed 3.9.6b1 (went 3.9.5 -> 3.9.6b1 -> 3.9.5 -> 3.9.6b1) for the second time, the extension unlocks again. Now I'm just once again stuck with the "Problem with 1Password Helper" error message

To help us track down the issue more quickly, could you please send us a Diagnostics Report?

In 1Password 3.8, just select Help > Troubleshooting > Diagnostics Report from the menu bar.

Since you are using 1Password 3.9 (from the Mac App Store), you'll need to follow the instructions here:

    http://support.agilebits.com/kb/troubleshooting/create-a-diagnostics-report-to-help-agilebits-help-you

Then attach the entire file to a private support ticket:

    http://support.agilebits.com/discussion/new

Please include a link to this thread in order that we might more quickly "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, though.

Thanks! I have replied to your support ticket but will reproduce my response here as well.

In your case, your report indicates that an old version of the 1Password background process loading which is almost certainly the cause of the problem.

In Finder, select Go > Go to Folder… from the menu bar. Copy and paste the following path into the input box and then press Return:
~/Library/LaunchAgents
Then move the ws.agile.1PasswordAgent.plist file you see there to the trash.

Once more, select Go > Go to Folder… from the menu bar. Copy and paste the following path into the input box and then press Return:
~/Library/Application Support/1Password
Then move the Agent folder you see there to the trash.

Once you have move both of those items to the trash, restart your Mac.

When you Mac restarts, please open Activity Monitor (found in /Applications/Utilities) and search for "1Password". The "1Password Helper" process should be running, but "1PaswordAgent" should not be.

Could you confirm this for me and let me know if things are working better?

    Hello!

I have the same problem though I can't send you Diagnostics Report because I tried to reinstall Safari extension and now it won't connect at all (I'm typing my master password and it tries to connect but fails every time).

I have the latest version of 1Password for Mac (3.8.18, synced with iPhone and iPad) and I'm running Mountian Lion.

The problem started when I upgraded from Lion - there was (and still is) a red "1" warning and no new passwords (added through the Mac app) were added to the extension.

When I tried to reinstall it it got worse and now it won't connect at all (it's just counting, trying to connect and that's all).

My Safar is running in 64-bit mode and I tried your solution with deleting some files from the folders in Mac Library but it didn't help.

    Any help wold be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Krzysztof

EDIT: Aaa, sorry, I just updated to 3.8.20 and it works fine! I updated the app today and it got updated to .18 (don't know why). Now I checked for updated again and it got updated to .20.
