Updating 1Password for iPhone

I am an experienced 1Password user with my computer but practically a beginner with the iPhone, on which I have 1Password Touch 2.2.1 installed (iOS 5.1.1).

How do I update the application? I got it long before I got the iPhone and it doesn't seem to be registered in my App Store account. Do I need to buy it again? (I assume there is no upgrade path?)

Also, sorry for such a basic question, but how do I change my master password on the iPhone?

Thank you,

David

    Hey David

if you prefer to use Dropbox which I love... and its the preferred method for syncing around here. See this help acrticle http://help.agilebit...th_dropbox.html

As to the MP I would recommend changing it before you start the sync its just much easier to do that first IMHO.

Open the app assuming you know the Master Password and got to more > settings > security - there you should see the option for change master password.

If you do not know it then the only option is to remove it from the device and reinstall. This will remove all previous entries etc and start over from scratch. Allowing you set a new password and security code 4 digit etc.

As to the version you have the current one in the store is 3.6.5 If you have the app in iTunes then go to your apps and right click on it and select get info. Look at the account name and see if you recognize the email addy that was used to purchase it. It may just be that all you need to do is sign in and check for updates under that email account.

Off hand I cant recall if there was a paid upgrade in the past. More than likely khad or one of the others will be along and can answer this for 100% sure. I honestly don't recall one but my old noodle is not what it was when I was 20 something. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

Edit : There may have been a paid upgrade when Dropbox syncing was added to the app. You may need to upgrade to see the option I mention above and to get the Dropbox syncing. I cant recall what version it was added in.

    Hey David,

That is a pretty old version of the app. I'm wondering how you are so far behind. The current version is 3.6.5 and you can update to it in the same manner that you update all iOS apps. Open the App Store on your device and tap the "Updates" tab. Then tap the button to install the free update.

The only thing I would be hesitant about is that there was some code a long time ago that required a transition to a new database format (though I could be wrong about the exact nature of it). My concern is that you may have trouble going from such an old version to the current versions without using one of the versions between then and now that contained the code to make the transition.

Forgive me if the older app is lacking some of these features, but please backup/sync your device before proceeding in case there is any merit to my above speculation and you need to restore your data from an external source. (I do not believe that Dropbox sync is an option for you in that old version, but I include it here for completeness just in case. It is our currently recommended solution, so once you upgrade you should enable it.)

If you've been using Dropbox to sync your data with 1Password for Mac or Windows, just set up Dropbox syncing again, and your data will start syncing to your iPhone automatically. Please see this guide for instructions:

    http://help.agilebits.com/1Password3/cloud_syncing_with_dropbox.html

If you've previously sync'ed your 1Password data with 1Password for Mac using Wi-Fi, you can easily restore your data during the next Wi-Fi sync:

    http://help.agilebits.com/1Password_touch/sync_to_mac_manually.html

If you've used the built-in "backup and restore" feature to save a backup copy of your 1Password data, you can use it again to restore that saved backup file. You can read more about our backup and restore option here:
