Dropbox database corrupted?
I am new to the forum and am not sure this is the right place to post, but its seemed better than the other alternatives. I am running Version 3.8.20 (build 31499), Mountain Lion and Safari 6 on my Macs
I am getting all sorts of errors around the 1password database in dropbox, making the software unusable and all my data inaccessible. This is happening on my two main iMacs. I do not want to open up the app on my iphone to preserve the local database. These are the two main error messages I am getting:
1) Pops up when trying to load from desktop (mountain lion)-- Exception: The encryption keys file does not exist at 'file://localhost/Users/danreck/Dropbox/1Password.agilekeychain/data/default/1password.keys'
2) Pops up when trying to access from Safari 6-- Database backup failed: The 1Password Database could not be backed up. Database exists but is invalid. One or more keys files may be missing.
Suggestions greatly appreciated!

Please see our support article for this issue and walk through the steps for each safety net:

If you have trouble with any step or if there is anything else I can help with please let me know. I am more than happy to provide further assistance. Please do read the support article carefully, though, as we wrote it to be as comprehensive as possible.Flag 0 -
Thanks, but unfortunately I think I am past the solutions in the article. I tried all of the steps, but I can't open up 1Password at all so the first two solutions are not seemingly possible. When I go to dropbox, it does not look like the example.
I tried to paste in a screenshot, but I don't think it publishes.
1password.agilekeychain is the only folder in the main directory related to 1 password. The following are sub directories or files:
1password.html (code)
.lock (folder)
a (folder)
config (folder)
data (folder)
sync (folder)
there are no files called '1password.keys' or 'encryptionKeys.js' when i show deleted files (or not). i used the search capability in dropbox and nothing came up.
Any other ideas???Flag 0 -
Before we move on to the third solution, I want to make sure that you are unable to restore from a backup. When you say that you "can't open up 1Password at all" what happens when you double-click 1Password in your Applications folder? Nothing? Or do you see the welcome screen? Or the lock screen prompting your for your master password? Even if you are not able to access your data, you should still be able to access the menu bar to restore from a backup.Flag 0

Brilliant. My brain was not working that way! I could not get past the login screen so thought the app had not yet started. The menus were indeed working even though I couldn't enter my master password and I was able to restore from a week or so ago.
Thank you so much! I am generally appreciative of 1Password, but no more so than when I broke it and couldn't make it work anymore. That is when I realized how totally dependent I have become. Thankfully you all have made it bullet (or idiot) proof.Flag 0 -
