Passwords missing after updating to latest Beta 1.0.9.297 (Fixed in 1.0.9.298)

in Windows Beta
I updated to the latest beta today, and now some of my passwords (not all, thankfully) are missing in the windows version of 1Password. They do not show up in the chrome extension, nor in the 1Password client, however I can still see them via 1Password on my iPhone. I am using dropbox syncing. About 36 of them seem to be gone, or at least not visible in windows, and there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to the ones that are missing.

I noticed that only *some* of my account records were completely blank. I started filling one in, thinking that "oh well it's just a couple" but slowly realized it had "forgot" a lot of my information.
Reinstalling 1.0.9.296 fixed it thank god!
My OS: Windows 7 x64
I have the Chrome extension + IE9 extension enabled
Not sure what else might be helpful.
The information I entered while running 1.0.9.297 was missing when I relaunched after reinstalling .296 - it's like there was a conflict on that specific record, like the format had changed and it was either one or the other.Flag 0 -
Hi Mike,
I'm sorry to hear about that issue. It doesn't sound like the data is missing but the app couldn't decrypt the secure content instead. Are you saying that the item you created while in the beta is missing or is it that the item is there but missing parts of data?
One of the changes we made in 1.0.9.297 beta is an improvement to the encryption process that speeds up the unlocking process. We tested it and it does work. It shouldn't affect the data all.
Can you tell me if you only use 1Password on your Windows computer and you're not currently syncing to any other computers or iOS devices?
Please let me know.
Thanks!Flag 0 -
Hi guys,
I'm sorry about this. We fixed this bug already, it does not affect your data. Please open 1Password, go to the Help Menu > Check for New Version to update to 1.0.9.298-Beta to get the fix.
We've improved the security system in the latest betas and the last beta didn't have the function to decrypt the low security items, the items that you created on the iPhone but without the master password protection enabled. That's why the Windows app shows the titles but not the secure content, it wasn't able to decrypt it. We fixed it and it'll be able to decrypt them properly without any issues in the latest Beta update.
I hope this helps, please let me know.

Hi CSM,
I merged your post into another thread that has the same bug report. Please read my post here about the update we just released to fix this bug.
Please let us know how it turns out.Flag 0 -
I updated to BETA-298 on Friday, August 17 and the issue with the Chrome extension resolved itself. Then on Tuesday when I began trying to use the Chrome extension for my logins, the same issue was occuring as with BETA-297. I am having this issue with Chrome and Internet Explorer 9 now on Win Vista 32 system. All my logins appear as blank when try to use them but they appear in the actual 1Password program on the same machine. I've tryed the Chrome extension download and drag into the extensions list and that doesn't resolve the issue in Chrome. Please help this has been a problem for almost a week since 297 first arrived for download.Flag 0

Hi Kelly,
As far as we know, almost everybody who updated to .298 reported no further problems and we can't reproduce any more issues either.
Can you tell me if you rebooted your computer after installing the .298 build?
Please reboot and then reinstall the Chrome extension like this, see if this will help:
1) Open Chrome, right click on the 1Password icon to remove it from Chrome
2) Close Chrome, open the main 1Password app, unlock, press the Preferences button, and go to the Browsers section to press the "Install Chrome extension" button
3) Follow the instructions that just opened up in Chrome.
4) Restart Chrome and it should work properly now.
I hope that helps, please let me know.

I'm having the same issue that Kelly Lee described above. Extension works fine in FF but I get a blank window when I click on the 1Password icon in Chrome. I have the latest beta version installed and I've just followed the instructions posted by MikeT and still have the same results. Do I need to roll back a version, or to the last non-beta release?

Welcome to the forums, BuilderBill. I'm sorry that you are having some trouble, and I don't want to be pedantic, but could you let me know what specific versions of (1) Chrome, (2) 1Password for Windows, and (3) 1Password Chrome extension you are using?
Better yet, to help us track down the issue more quickly, could you please send us your Diagnostics Report? Select Help > Diagnostics Report > Export to File from the menu bar in 1Password. Then attach the report to an email to us at support@agilebits.com.
Once we see your report we should be able to help more. Thanks in advance!Flag 0 -
Thanks Khad, I've sent the diagnostic report to support@agilebits.com. Just for reference, the specific versions I am using are:
Chrome 16.0.912.63
1Password for Windows 1.0.9.BETA-298
1Password Chrome Extension 3.9.7.39799Flag 0 -
Hi MikeT,
I was using the latest version 'certified' by my employer. I downloaded Chrome 21 and it works fine.
However it does seem odd that 1Password worked fine with the old version (Chrome 16) I was using until I let it update to the Beta version of the 1Password. Maybe my older version of Chrome would have continued to work with the latest non-Beta version of 1Password.
Anyway, thanks for your help.Flag 0 -
Hi Bill,
That's because we haven't made any major changes that'd disrupt the compatibility with Chrome 16, even though we don't support outdated browser versions by default. The last few extension updates had major internal changes that are tailored for support in the latest version of Chrome (21) and upcoming versions, so that's why it no longer works with Chrome 16.
You'll be seeing a change to how the 1Password extension is installed for Chrome in the near future.
I'm glad that Chrome 21 helped and hopefully, your employee will certify the version 21 soon because there are security risks for sticking with older browser versions.
If we could be of further assistance, please let us know.

Having what I think is the same problem, using what I believe are all the up-to-date versions:
1Password for Windows 1.0.9.BETA-298
1Password for Chrome 3.9.8.39802
1Password for Firefox 3.9.7
Chrome 21.0.1180.89 m
Firefox 15.0
Cannot log into a number of websites using the extension/plug-in. It appears as though the username/passwords that I stored are gone within the plugin, but when I open the actual desktop application, they're in there. Copy/paste of the username & password from the application shows they're fine. If I delete the login and recreate it, the plugin seems to work fine from that point forward.
On the logins that do not work within the plugin/extension, there is nothing displayed in the "saved form fields" area, despite there being data in the actual desktop app. If I go into the plugin/extension and try to edit the login within the extension, I see the following as the saved username, which is not what it actually is: wendyappleseedFlag 0 -
Hi there,
Try to get rid of the stale database in Firefox, this instruction should help: https://mikhailt.clarify-it.com/d/windows_firefox_db
After that, it'll sync back a fresh database from the main 1Password app and it should show the data correctly.
I hope that will help, let me know.
Thanks!Flag 0 -
Firefox is the only browser where you need to manually remove the SQLite file. in Safari and Chrome simply removing the extension from the browser's preferences will automatically remove the sandboxed database as well. Just move and reinstall the extension. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
