Manually Inserting Icons

Is there a way to manually select a file for a login items icon rather than having 1P try to automatically find it? The majority of my icons are horribly out of place. It would be so much more convient to choose them myself.

The icons are provided by the sites themselves ([url="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Favicon#Device_support"]apple-touch-icon[/url] first, if available, and [url="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Favicon"]favicon[/url] if not). If you wish to use a custom image, simply drag and drop the image onto the drop target when editing the item.

I like to use full-size iPhone or OS X app icons (if applicable) for my own Login items.



You can grab an iPhone app icon like this:



1. View the source of [url="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/1password-pro/id319898689?mt=8"]an iPhone app page[/url]

2. Search inline for "Category:"

3. The image right before "Category:" is the app icon. In this example it is:

4. You can even edit the URL to change "175x175" to "512x512" for a higher resolution version of the image:

To use an app icon, [b]File > Get Info[/b] on the app in Finder, click the icon, then press Command-C to copy the icon to the clipboard. Command-V to paste it on the drop target in 1Password.

That's excellent, thanks for the tip. Now, my second question would be this: Is there anyway to retain the login-page picture while still having the icon?

Not at this time. A custom image is used as both preview and icon.
