1Password vs Roboform Everywhere

Hi,

I'm currently looking to purchase a password manager.

I have been using Roboform desktop for a long time. But now I want something I can use on my iPad and iPhone.

So now I have to choose between Roboform everywhere, which costs me around 20$ a year, and 1Password synched on DropBox.

1Password on Windows will cost me 50$ and the iPad/iPhone version another 15$.

I know there are also some working discount codes available to get 20% on the price of the Windows version.

If there is an update on the Windows version of the program, does this have to be purchased or can the program be updated for free, and is this forever or just the first year?

Can I install the Windows version on my Pc and my laptop?

I'm still having doubt on chosing between the 2 programs...

Welcome to the forums, larryman! Thanks for taking the time to contact us.

1Password is licensed per-platform, per-user, but there are never any ongoing monthly or yearly fees. There are also no per-computer, or per-device fees.

There is no need to try to hunt down a coupon code online that may or may not work. If you email us a copy of your iTunes App Store receipt from 1Password Pro (our universal iOS app) we can give you a legitimate discount on a Windows license: support@ agilebits .com <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

The licensing terms permit unlimited use per licensed user, per licensed platform. That means a Single User Windows license is valid for as many Windows machines as you could ever possibly afford as long as you are the only user. You can always upgrade to a Family License which covers up to five users in the same household (and all of their Windows machines).

App Store apps are covered under Apple's licensing terms which are similarly permissive. You can install 1Password Pro on all your personal iOS devices. No problem.

Major version upgrades will be paid upgrades, but 1Password for Windows debuted on April 19, 2010. Since then, it has been updated 183 times with a total of 662 changes — all free. There has only been one paid upgrade in 1Password's entire six year history and that was from 1Password 2 for Mac to 1Password 3 for Mac. We've given away hundreds of free updates.

Those who purchase 1Password for Windows within 45 days of any major upgrade will be able to upgrade for free.

I can't look into a crystal ball and make predictions about the future, but that is our track record and our license upgrade policy. I hope that helps.
