1Password 4.0 upgrade?
Comments

There was a first look at 1Password 4 for iOS that came out on Wednesday which may have you confused a bit. Please read the last section here for some details on iOS upgrade: http://www.imore.com/first-look-1password-4-iphone-ipad
As for 1Password 4 for Mac, all Mac App Store copies of 1Password come with a free upgrade to Mac version 4. This was and still is the case.Flag 0 -
Eagerly awaiting the MAS v4 and iOS 4.0 version.
1Password has been instrumental in not only dealing with the morass of security issues that I deal with but i'm now leveraging it to manage my software licenses as well. That's a nice hidden bonus.Flag 0 -
Version 3.8 has been running so flawlessly for me that I've not been a frequent visitor to the forum. So, it was a bit of a surprise to learn about the immenent release of 1PW4. Is it of any value to me to upgrade to version 3.9 before version 4 comes out? I fully intend to upgrade to 4 so that I will have iCloud functionality between my devices.Flag 0

There is a sale going on right now for 30% off and all MAS copies will get the upgrade to 4 for free, so it could be a good time to lock in the sale price to purchase 1Password on the Mac App Store. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
The only app that has been announced as imminent, however, is 1Password 4 for iOS. That is what the newsletter was about that we recently sent to all newsletter subscribers:

I do have another question, khad: on your web site, using my license key, there is an upgrade available to me for a family license for $34.29. That's about the same as the sale price for version 3.9x through the Apple Store. If I were to upgrade through your site, would it be verysion 3.9, and would I still get verison 4 for free when it is available?Flag 0 -
The deal we are offering at this time is that all Mac App Store copies of 1Password get the upgrade to version 4.
The licensing terms of the App Store are very similar to our previous Family License. From Macworld's Mac App Store FAQ:
"You can install apps bought from the Mac App Store on any and every Mac that you personally own and use."
"Apps don't check to see if you've using an iTunes-authorized Mac. They can ask you to verify your Apple ID and password, but that's a single check and it's just to verify you are who you say you are. Once your identity is verified, that's it. There's no authorizing or deauthorizing or counting of different Macs."
"Apps are purchased for and owned by a user linked to a single Apple ID. But if you log in with that ID on all the Macs in your household, you can download and install your apps on each one."
http://www.macworld...._store_faq.html
In short, the upgrade path we have carved out in the Mac App Store is (1) less expensive than it has ever been previously and (2) still has quite permissive licensing terms.
I can't think of any circumstances offhand in which a MAS license would be any more restrictive than our Family license.Flag 0 -

I must have been dropped from the newsletter as I haven't received anything in probably a year?Flag 0 -

That is very strange. Have you checked your spam folder? Did you change your email address?
Not in Spam folder and haven't changed email. Have been with you since at least 2009 and used to get the occasional newsletter. Maybe related is that I don't get notices of comments here in the forum. This may go back to when you changed the forum a year((???) ago.
I just checked and my preferences weren’t carried over from the old forum.Flag 0 -
The email notifications here on the forums is sadly a known issue. They seem to come and go randomly. It's been very frustrating.
Please try [re]subscribing to the newsletter and let me know if you have trouble. I don't think there are any other reports of folks being mysteriously unsubscribed to the newsletter, but I'll mention it to the team so we can keep an eye on it.

I live in what I call a "Mixed Household" -- I am Mac and my wife is Windows. We have used the Windows and Mac versions of 1PW with great success. I will be happy to upgrade from 3.9 to 4.x and my iOS versions also -- but I need to specifically verify we will not loose syncing in our Mixed Household environment.Flag 0

1Password 4 will continue to sync with all current versions of 1Password across all supported platforms: Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.
Upgrade and enjoy. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -

We don't normally pre-announce release dates as too many factors (some beyond our control) affect them. Please stay tuned. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -
I'd like to upgrade to the MAS version but have noticed the price is $49.99. Is this the sale price or is the sale over?
Thanks much!Flag 0 -
Hey Doug
I can only guess yes its over but based upon past history of the agile folks at xmas time. I would say watch the app store for a reduction between now and the 21'st.
The 21st is the last day changes can take effect before the xmas holidays. From 12/21 to 12/28 there will be no pricing changes allowed as iTunes connect is shut down.
in re to past history they have always been generous and given a xmas discount I cannot guarantee anything it just what I have noticed over the years. I have no inside knowledge all I base my comments on is sheer history of agile's discountsFlag 0 -
Ok, thanks much for the info. I guess I should have purchased it when it was on sale. I think I remember being notified about sale prices in the past, especially around the holidays.Flag 0
