Missing 'quick search' and quick tap 'back to categories'
Not a 'bug' but a feature request ...
The 'old' app clearly starts at 'logins' with a 'top right' search box ... would be convenient if the 'database' link to the left would show that just above 'all items' imho
Other than that, UI-related, i'm trying to tap the 'database' (file cabinet) icon to get back to categories instead of the category arrow, would a 'second' tap on that bring you back to all categories?
Cheers!
Tom

I'm not sure that I understand what you're asking here, can you give me more context here? What do you mean by 'database' link to the left?
If you press on "Edit" on top left in Categories and drag "Logins" all the way up, it'll give you Logins under the "All Logins". It's not possible to drag it above "All Items" at the moment.

Yes, if you double-tap on it on "Categories" on the bottom bar, it'll take you back to the main view of Categories. File Cabinet is "Categories", so you can call it that.Flag 0 -

The 'file cabinet' thing ... see screenshots, what I mean is that there is no 'search' box in this view (e.g. above 'All Items'). That would be very convenient - I use that a lot in the old version.

I don't know what you mean by bottom bar, but what I mean is (see above screenshot) if I 'tap' on "Credit Cards" that I have to use the 'Categorie' button on top to go back, instead it would be beneficial (imho) to also tap on the file cabinet to return to the view of the above screenshot.Flag 0 -
Hi Tom,
Sorry, I started talking about 1Password on an iPhone, I didn't realize you were talking about the iPad.
The search box is inside the category. If you tap on "All Items", the search box will show up on top to search all items. If you want a more specific like Logins only, you switch to the Logins category and search on top the same place.

However, we're looking at finding a way to make a search box persistent, so you don't have to select a category or scroll up to get to it.
I Just confirmed that the double-tapping on the Categories on the left sidebar isn't taking you back to Categories, so I've filed it as a bug report and we'll get this fixed as soon as possible. On the iPhone, you double tap on the Categories on the bottom bar (left on iPad) to take you directly back to the root of Categories, so that's why I mentioned it. Sorry about the confusion, I'll be sure to mention both or ask for which iOS model you have.
Thanks for your feedback!Flag 0 -

Is it correct that the search box is currently only available in landscape view on the iPad? I'm dearly missing it in portait view.Flag 0 -
Hi Tom,
Not yet, the devs are aware that it is missing and are trying to find a way to get the search field into the portrait mode.
It might take some time as it requires more custom interface work to make it fit well.
I'm not too sure yet about Categories listing yet, it's not meant to have a search there but we'll see.
Thanks!Flag 0 -
I'm also really missing having a Search box in Portrait mode. On the iPad mini I mostly use Portrait so the lack of a search bar really was annoying to me.
I saw the comment about the developers having problems finding where to put it. Why not into the top navigation bar? It'd then easily just filter the content displayed below it just like the Landscape table view. It wouldn't require any custom UI either, it's all UIKit and can be themed with UIAppearance.
Since this app is iOS 6 only, the dev should be able to add a UISearchBar wrapped in a UIView into the UINavigationBar at the top as a UIBarButtonItem next to the existing Add button since you can now have an array of right navigation bar items as of iOS 5.
(Ignore the blue in the mockup, that was part of my app that I didn't feel like cutting out.)

Just bought the app as well (didn't try on anything but the iPad mini using the beta until now) but
- iPad mini (beta 41b2)
- iPad mini (final 4.0.2)
- iPhone (5, final 4.0.2)
still have a 'missing' search box imho - i first have to tap 'all items' before i get the search bar. I still expect the searchbar 'above' the all items list and/or it being shown when you scroll downwards.
In addition, the mentioned 'quick tap' back to the list that starts with all items DOES work on the iPhone but doesn't work on the iPad.
- repro
- iphone: tap on the drawer go into any list on the iPhone, tap on maps, tap the drawer, tap again on the drawer -> your back to all items
- ipad : tap on the drawer go into any list on the iPad, tap on maps, tap the drawer, tap again on the drawer -> nothing happens, your still in the list
To summarize, the iPhone does what I expected from a UI-experience - besides that both devices 'miss' the search box. Would be great if the iPad would do it as well <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
However I can live with entering most things using the Mac-app and then just keep both portable devices at 'all items' as searching on the devices is what I do most.Flag 0
