1- Text color on sync logs for dropbox almost unreadable > gray/back on dark gray

2- Settings > help > user guide > ask before leaving the app

3- When viewing news the background goes from light gray to white

4- Sorting generated passwords on date/time

5- When you press edit in categories, all items slide over like you can delete them, but there is no delete button but just white space

Browser

6- when editing the url, the cancel button disappears slowly (after keyboard hides)

7- When closing the last tap in the browser, it should go back to the login's

8- BUG (reproducible yes: tried multiple times): "Log in using" When clicking the blue detail arrow > then in detail view > when you press share > you can't close the share menu and your forced to press mail. when you press mail you can't delete or save the draft. also you can't leave the email view now and your forced to send an email. after sending the email the view shows the top navigation bar at the bottom under the tool bar. the navigation bar is still functional and screws up the whole app

9- Between the website and "Log in using" there are rounded and strait corners you can see little gab

10- Icons are not synced for software licnces would be a nice new feature

11- When you press edit it looks like the fields expand outside the screen (but i think there inside the screen on the last pixel)

12- When swiping a login item a few icons appear, but no idea what the 4th icon does

Comments

  • I decided to post into this existing thread rather than creating a new one. I'll insert some first feedback/ideas below (I'll have a few iPad ones too, but I've tested the app mainly on iPhone 5 for now).

Some animations feel a tad too slow. On the iPhone 5, the multiple browser tabs open/close with a "flashy" (don't know if it's the right term) animation that's not as smooth as, say, Safari's one. I agree with the comment about the cancel button. On the iPad, the lock/unlock animation of the app could be a bit faster (I have an iPad 3).

The Security settings are somewhat confusing. I remember it was possible to keep a separate set of master passwords per device, right? So I used to have a longer one on the Mac, and shorter ones on iOS. But now it looks like you can only have "quick unlock codes" on iOS, and changing the master password from iPhone changed it everywhere? I understand how keeping a single passwords holds true to the 1Password name, but I gotta admit I got used to keeping multiple ones per device. I think people will end up using shorter ones all the time, so that kinda defeats 1P's purpose as well, no? (of course, it may be a simple setting which I missed)

Is it possible in 1P 4.0 to access saved searches and/or tags from OS X? I could get by with folders, but saved searches are obviously smarter.

That's all I have to say after 20 minutes with the app. Everything else is glorious in my opinion. I love the new interface, the Favorites view (HUGE timesaver), the improved password generator, and the little details like how the background window fades out when dragging the browser into. Awesome job.

I think the idea is to do away with a separate password on the iOS side, effectively using the single master password everywhere. While I can see the logic to that position, I strongly agree with your point that this is just going to encourage people to use shorter master passwords, thereby potentially sacrificing security. Then again, perhaps most people already do use short master passwords anyway and I'm in the minority here. All I know is that I'm already getting annoyed with trying to enter my 40-character master password on my iPhone each time I need to open the app <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

The Quick Unlock doesn't really seem to cut it here either, since I guess it only applies if 1Password stays resident in memory, which it doesn't seem to for long, even on an iPhone 5 -- opening two or three additional apps seems to be enough to push 1Password out and thereby require the Master Password to be re-entered the next time you go in.

At any rate, this was discussed at great length in a thread on the main forums a few months ago - http://forum.agilebits.com/index.php?/topic/10412-storage-of-master-password-on-ios-devices/page__pid__59752#entry59752

    Hi Matt,

    Thanks for sending the feedback!

    1. The sync logs is missing a background image, it's fixed in beta 25 but we saw another issue, so we'll fix it in b26.

    2. We'll redirect into our own browser in a future update

    3. The News viewing isn't done yet, we're working on improving it

    4. We'll look into adding more sorting options, including by date

    5. There's a reason for this but we're not going to share it at the moment as we're still working on it. For now, this is the intended behavior and you can use the drag handler on the right side to sort the categories manually

    6. I'm not sure what you mean here, did it redraw properly into a share button at the end? How slowly are we talking about here?

    7. We're getting a lot of mixed feedback on this, we'll look into it

    8. Confirmed, we'll fix this as soon as possible.

    9. Can you give us a screenshot to show us what you mean?

    10. This is planned but not in the first public release. We're still working on improving the current

    11. This is intentional, it's a design inspired by Apple's app like Contacts.app. The fields are supposed to slide to the right side

    12. The 4th icon is for copying the password to your clipboard.

    Hi @viticci!

It's best to create a separate thread to make sure it's easier to follow threads if your post is not related to the original post.

    1. We're aware of the animations issue, we're working on optimizing them. Most common issues are the unlocking door animation, vault/web mode switches and the tabs zooming out. There are a few more that we're working on.

    2. No, in 1Password 4, this changes completely. Your master password changes (technically, the encryption keys) will sync with other 1Password 4 mobile apps and your desktop apps.

Unfortunately, using a 4-digit code to encrypt your database and its low level security items are not enough. So we're defaulting to the master password to encrypt your database (thus getting rid of the dual security levels concept) while allowing you to use a 4-digit unlock code for app sessions between the initial master password unlock and until the auto-lock kicks in.

You can enable this in Settings > Security > Quick Unlock Code and adjust your auto-lock timer to be longer, so you can keep using the quick unlock code longer.

We understand some people won't like this but unfortunately, this is the most secure way we can protect your data. 4-digit code is just not enough. Even a 6 alphabetic master password is strong enough for some people who actually never turned on master password protection for any of their items.

3, Smart folders and tags are something we're considering in the future but it will not be included in the initial 1Password 4.0 release, might be in 4.x update.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have more questions!

Okay, now my head is starting to hurt <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> I'm either reading something wrong or just getting generally confused... The highlighted statements above seem to be in direct contradiction to your comments made in these other two threads:

Not trying to be difficult, but just trying to get straight whether the current behaviour is intentional (as this post seems to suggest), or whether it is a bug (as your comments in the other two threads seem to suggest).

Personally, I'm not even sure I care either way -- I can definitely see the merits of both approaches -- but I suppose that if even some of you guys are confused about how this is supposed to work, what hope is there for the poor end users? <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I don't see the contradiction, if anything, it was a redundant statement because the quick unlock code will work at any time intervals you pick. What I meant that to make life a bit easier, you can expand the timeframe that 1Password should lock itself and when it does, it'll use the quick unlock code.

Fair enough, as I said I really wasn't trying to be snarky or difficult... Just wanted to make sure it was clear since I was still trying to get straight what the behaviour was actually supposed to be (which you have now clearly explained in other threads). I had read the statements highlighted above ("and until the auto-lock kicks in" & "adjust your auto-lock timer to be longer, so you can keep using the quick unlock code longer") as implying that the Quick Unlock Code would only be used in the interim until the Auto-Lock interval had passed.

Oh, I see what you mean.

The team is reconsidering how to change this to be more simple after the feedback we're getting here. So, hopefully, we'll find something better in the near future.
