Feature Request: Dedicated Password Generator

The new and much-improved password generator turned out to be exactly what I was hoping for in 1Password 4. I'd love to be able to quickly add a new password, though, the way it worked in the old version, where Generated Password is an option when you tap the Add button in the toolbar.

I think the reasoning is that generated passwords are always for new logins, but yes - I had the same thought. Would like to have a way to generate new ones out of the Logins view.Flag 0 -
Hi guys,
We do not plan to provide a dedicated generator to create password items like in the old app. The reason is that the password generator will be available in all password fields in almost all items. So, if you need to add a generated password, you can create a new item, add a new section, then add a new field type of password, and from there, you can generate a password in that field like in this screenshot showing the password field I added in a Credit card Item (great for security questions!):

Hi Mike and Federico,
I agree the new approach makes a lot of sense and speeds up creating a new login. The old way simply made it very easy to create and save a new iPhone and iPad passcode, for example, although I do prefer the pronouncable passwords you get with the new generator. Oh—and I'm looking forward to listening to Myke and Federico tomorrow!Flag 0 -
Whilst I appreciate this approach and can live with it, something to consider as a perhaps odd-use-case:
As a part of my work I regularly need to generate secure pass phrases for other people to permit access to systems and applications. Using the Generator to create a value that I then iMessage/SMS is something I do many, many times per day. I don't really want to create a saved item for that account, as I want the user to change their password anyway. Without a dedicated Generator, it means I have to create, then delete. Not a biggie, but, it is a key feature of 1Password I use a lot.Flag 0 -
Hi doetraar,
I agree with you as I use the password generator in a similar way.
@Agile:
Would it be possible to have an item category named e.g "Password" which only has one field in it, which is the password generation field? This way there should be less or no need for a dedicated password generator. But in fact, we would have one.

While generating passwords is much quicker than the previous version (having to navigate through sub-menus), I was hoping for a 1 or 2 click easy generation of strong, secure passwords. At the moment, I'm using MasterKey to generate secure passwords (open the app and a new password is generated), but it's annoying to then have to copy the password into 1Password. If it's not possible to have this quick generation from the main screen of the app because of design concerns, could it be possible to have a URL Scheme that links directly to a password generation field to be accessed from an app like LaunchCentre Pro.
Hopefully this will get considered <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />.Flag 0
