Also in the identity detail view:
"Initiale" should be "Initialen"
"Geburtsdat
um"
should be
"Geburts-
datum"
"Unternehm
en"
should be
"Unter-
nehmen"
"address"
should be
"Adresse"
"Haupttelefo
n"
should be
"Haupt-
telefon"
or probably just "Telefon"??
And also in the software licence detail view:
"Lizenzschlü
ssel"
should be
"Lizenz-
schlüssel"

I noticed that in the German translation some words are wrapped because they are too long to fit into the column. Unfortunately some of those words are just wrapped in the middle of the word without taking the syllable division into account.
Of course it would be possible to consider syllable division to wrap the words correctly, but I think it wold be much nicer and much better to read without word wrapping at all.
So I made a little mock-up how it could look like without word wrap. So, what do you think?

Hi Kosiko,
Thanks for your suggestions. I was wondering if you can help improve the translations by joining our translations project here: http://forum.agilebits.com/index.php?/topic/11151-help-us-translate-1password/
You'll be able to update the strings directly in there and quickly see other strings that may be missing a translation.
We'd appreciate any help you can give in the project.
Thanks!Flag 0 -
Hi Mike, I don't know if you saw my response in the other topic. I already fixed very few strings, the translation is already pretty good. The problem is the hyphenation, I didn't see a possibility to enter information about where to wrap words in the tool. That is the main problem here, not the translation itself.Flag 0

Is there rules about word wrapping avoidance ? Sometimes we can find synonym to make the words fit the field but sometimes we can't.Flag 0

Hi Blacklight,
Sorry, I misread your words as I thought they were replacements but I see that you were showing few words first and then how they should be shown with the dash.
In the last few updates, we improved the detail view to give it a bit more space, can you tell me if it makes any difference?
Unfortunately, we do not have the total control over the hyphenation for the translations. Even in English, we do struggle with some of the longer words. We updated them to be replaced with shorter words. So, you might see strings showing up with those shorter words such as "Organization" replaced by "Group" in Membership items.
I'll ask if there's a way to just let the app see the - and wrap it around, if yes, we'll just add the - in the strings and force the app to show it like that.
I'll let you know as soon as I know.
Thanks for correcting me!Flag 0 -
Thanks Mike!
Finding synonyms for many of those words is very difficult or impossible, because in German, words like "account owner" become one word: "Kontoinhaber" (instead of "Konto Inhaber"). So there's a need to wrap those words correctly. If it stays like it is, it's understandable of course, but it looks very wrong. Especially if only one letter gets wrapped, like in the router-section:
* Name der Basisstatio
n
(base station name)Flag 0 -
I did not get any response about my suggestion to avoid word wrap completely by changing the layout a little bit according to the mock-up below.
In my opinion it's much better to read. Any comments or different opinions?
Is it feasable at all?

@iBender,
Sorry, I missed your mockup. I believe we intentionally wanted it to be two columns for a reason but I'll share your design with our designer and see what he thinks. I don't know if we'll change it but if we like it, we'll reconsider it.
Thanks for sharing the mockup!Flag 0
