No space bar for searches in browser

The one feature I really miss about Mobile Safari in 1Password 4 is the ability to long-press . to automatically enter .com.

This is a great time saving feature that deserves to be implemented.

    Hi guys,

Please check out this thread for more information: http://forum.agilebits.com/index.php?/topic/11083-no-url-keyboard-is-shown-in-in-app-browser/

We do plan to provide a custom keyboard to support the URL style of keyboard. Right now, Apple doesn't provide such keyboard for the unified address/search bar, so we have to build it. I don't have a timeframe but we'll get it done as soon as we can.

    Thanks!
  • 4.0b28 changed the omnibar keyboard to a URL keyboard, but that means that it is no longer possible to perform multi-word google searches since there is no space bar.

    Nice find.

For now looks like I'm gonna have to take an extra step to google.com and go from there.

Thank you for noticing! We will be improving the keyboard in the future, for now it is a quick change to make typing URLs easier.

Empty address field has "Enter an address or search" in it suggesting that it is a search field yet the keyboard presented is the one optimised for typing URLs. It doesn't have a spacebar so you cannot type multiple keywords.

Don't remind me. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> This has been a pet peeve of mine. I got them to change it, but then they changed it back. The plan is to have a custom keyboard (like Chrome for iOS) which combines the standard keyboard with some additional URL input characters. Until then I think we should have the standard keyboard since it is possible to type multiple keywords with it and URLs. The URL keyboard can only type URLs. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_worried.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':S' />
  • What about the one Apple keyboard where you long-press the '.' for .com to appear? That would work as well.
