    @Henry,



    Undercover is showing up by me, but I got it the rich icon by a little trick: I used Pacifist to extract the Undercover Registration app and extracted it to the Application folder. Apparently it was scanned <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

    You're right, the Undercover icon shows up, but only as a thumbnail. In detail view for the item, I only see the generic Applications icon.

    I did a clean install and a re-sync and find the icons are sloooooow to come in... the other evening after roustem checked it they were super fast.



    You guys may want to check it again. They are populating but again at a slow rate.

    I cannot predict any rhyme or rhythm to the icons. Ones I had earlier no longer download and new ones I never had actually show up.

    Hey guys I know somewhere you said you didn't want to pull the icons from the keychain due to size and or resizing etc.



    How much would it really cause our data file to go up if we already have 1 icon there. Which from what I can tell is skipped during the iOS sync. So that is not pulled from the Keychain so it reduces our sync size tremendously.



    In the last 24 hours I have kept my app open as much as humanly possible trying to pull down the software icons and lets just say its less than stellar, but its beta thats ok. I have restarted it a few times (cold start) and occasionally Ill get another app icon to sync but not much.



    My point is You're trying to run a server to send out images why not put that capability in the desktop app and let Dropbox do your work for you. I am assuming you are having issues with the server scaling etc I could be wrong.



    Im going to go out on a limb here and make a prediction that the script will never make it to the end user. Why I am sure you will hear the uproar of folks saying the app is phoning home. blah blah blah.



    It would be far safer on you to avert those sayings by just incorporating this into the desktop app. I remember such a discussion during 1P3 desktop.

    If you did incorporate this into the keychain as I said. Then a server and bandwidth you don't have to worry about. Plus the nah sayers about the app phoning home.



    The icons would come from the 1P app with the keychain in iCloud, dropbox, or the proposed / theorized direct sync method. At no time do you ever have any interaction with the keychain file its all local to the user and if they wish to use the icons.

    I know they can turn off rich icons, but I think you may want to reevaluate this.

    "rich" app syncing to my iPad is dead, even erased data but a no go. strange as all these icons are showing up on my iPhones

    Tommy,



    The CloudFront will always be much faster than Dropbox or any other method simply because there are many edge servers around the world. Also, do not forget that we changed the icon sizes in the iOS and they are different. We can't use the old images without resizing.



    I am traveling at the moment and internet connection is terrible here. We will sort this out when I am back next week.

    Ah no prob,



    Now using CloudFront does make a [u]much much bigger difference[/u] rather than a self hosted ftp sort of thing where you need to watch the server all the time etc etc etc. So I agree that will work better and once all the bugs get worked out it will be the best option for all.



    So I was erring on how you had it setup. I tend to forget CloudFront exists at times. But thats why you make the big bucks <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />



    Go dip your feet into that water I saw in your tweet. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> unless its to cold. Hopefully its the warmer variety.

    Ha,



    I think I now have the answer all the 1P folk crashed the Amazon CloudFront servers trying to download icons ROFL. Just Kidding



    Actually probably it was slowly winding down for the past bit as we were seeing sporadic results. Then the Amazon Servers in VA USA crashed on the 12/24 causing Dropbox and Netflix issues as well.



    I base my results due to a erase / relink tonight and the icons are literally flying onto my device as fast as I scroll. Seems you were the precursor to the crash of the Amazon servers.



    Talk about speed man that was astounding they all synced faster than my initial keychain sync with Dropbox. But not by much probably not really but it appeared that way. More likely I was just enamored with how fast the icons came in and didnt notice my Dropbox sync had already finished. Dropbox flew off the charts as well. Again based upon my past history.



    What ever happened at Amazon was clearly a good thing for speed.



    My entire Keychain tool 13 minutes with attachments and a size of about 120MB, and not one single error. I can only think some of the issue was the Amazon servers affecting you and the Dropbox syncing.



    I have the release version I am going to try and replicate the results. With it. Ill add to this post with those results BRB.



    Stable Build :



    OK using the stable release the icons are syncing just as fast as the data is coming into my device from Dropbox. Initial sync took 9 minutes. Including Software icons. So I would go out on a limb and say all issues with the icons should just about be cleared up. Short of missing ones etc.



    I do have to say I have a fast connection here at the house (It cost's me dearly but the wife uses it for work so its a win win), well above average for most folks but the speed they are coming in is simply remarkable. Especially considering they are being pulled in as my keychain syncs from Dropbox.



    Just for kicks I ran a speed test to Reston, VA Actually I just made it to the farthest away place in VA from me.

    Oh



    One other thing I thought may be useful to some of you I created 2 snip-it's in TextExpander that run only in terminal.app.



    I set the first to change to the directory where my script is stored and then keystroke return. The second actually enters the command and then keystrokes return.



    After 2 snip-its all I have to do is type Y at the authorization prompt.



    If you as picky as myself and want to keep adding apps and making the script really easy you may think of something similar. Ok I am off to download a few apps and add then to the database.







    edit : 2:40 am EST Ok I am crashing now I have added in all icons in my Keychain and I am adding mine from the MAS so if you are like me you have them all in 1P. I added like 40 tonight I am crashing. Ill resume tomorrow after few hours of shut eye.

    Ok one last thought so I can get some sleep.



    Is the matching just by name I have tweaked the names for the "OS X Lion" and "OS X Mt Lion" installer to read just like it shows in the App store. I removed the "Install" and uploaded the icon.

    Looking at the output it is indeed sending by name so heres to hoping its not also by plist or something else.



    I did note that if you change a name from like mine to "Mahjong 2" to "Mahjong" on the iOS device to get it to pull in an app icon. I mean how many different icons do I need for "Mahjong" if you later revert the name back to the original format.



    [u]1P4 will strip the previously downloaded icon. Is this intended behavior ?[/u]

    I did note that there were a few I deleted off my machine all I did was grab them for the icons, anyway they needed to be re uploaded for some reason tonight.     Yesterday, I noticed Breeze was missing on mine as well. I swore I had uploaded it before and rescanned and lo and behold it uploaded again.

    When roustem pushes the new icons lets see if it comes thru this time <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />



    I also uploaded MacCleanse the other day, so it should come in as well. It was also in the same boat as Breeze It re uploaded.



    Just for kicks I downlaoded [url="http://macupdate.com/app/mac/7158/iphoto-library-manager"]http://macupdate.com...library-manager[/url] and it uploaded in my experience it only uploaded things it didn't have in the library. Not my stuff... Stuff in its master library. Same reason it never uploaded iPhoto on my end someone else had already added it.



    At this point I am personally thinking some just need to be rescanned.



    I downloaded every one on your list and they all re uploaded again.. Well I left off AutoCAD, and Plant vs Zombies. As above lets see if they come in this time.

    Could it be the case that the script does not scan or upload all apps present in the Application folder? I have scanned the Application folder several times but not all apps seem uploaded (like Prizmo, Squirrel)
