Full Android app?

Welcome to the forums, MStyle! Thanks for taking the time to contact us. I moved your post to the Android forum since it is not an iOS question and I want to make sure you get the attention you deserve. I hope you don't mind. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
An all new Android app is already in alpha testing. Feedback has been great so far, but we don't normally pre-announce release dates as too many factors affect them. Please watch this space, our blog, Twitter, and Facebook page for news and updates.
If we can be of further assistance in the meantime, please let us know. We are always here to help!Flag 0 -
I know that feeling. I am grateful to work for a company with sane password policies ("just push the slider to 50 characters"), but I know not everyone has that luxury. I'll pass your lament along to the developers. It might speed them up a bit. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0

Yay - soooo glad to hear it!! We started using 1Password back before we had smartphones: we were using iPod Touches. Since I have an Android phone now, obviously I can't enter new passwords on the fly - have to make a memo, then update when I'm on a computer or have access to the iPod.
Looking forward to when I can steer people *toward* 1Password rather than *away*.Flag 0 -
I'm also looking forward to this. I have a Nexus 7 in addition to my iOS devices, but currently the N7 is severely lacking in the password management department. But hopefully not for long <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0

Good Afternoon, KHad,
Please don't take this wrong, but according to
http://forum.agilebits.com/index.php?/topic/9855-1password-full-client-etd/
the new, full-feature Android client was in QA almost a year ago. I know that you've specifically said in both threads that you don't pre-announce software as you wish to release when ready (as opposed to "when the boss promises it"), but, at this point, I've lost faith in AgileBits' ability to actually produce a full Android client.
At this point, I'm starting to evaluate KeePass, and to see if there are other password diaries out there that might work in a cross-platform way.

Hey,
I already know that you basically give no comments on release dates but since the android app is in beta status since 2010 (yes, we have 2013 already) and the ios app is already v.4 (and has a tablet version additionally), I would say we android users showed quite enough patience...
and consider the market share of android nowadays. i bet it would be good for your business not to cold-shoulder android users <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />!
Edit: see the post above... android users start leaving... do SOMETHING against that! The only reason why so many are still waiting for the new 1password version is that there is basically no comparable software out there. But thats a question of time... ask yahoo <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />!Flag 0 -
Just to clarify, the original Beta in 2010 was for 1Password Reader, the version you have right now, we then released this as a 'stable' product and made several updates to this, notably to improve Dropbox syncing and fix a number of UI issues.
What's in Alpha testing — though we had to stop the public Alpha late last year as we had to keep some things that would expose 1Password 4 for iOS features secret — is 1Password for Android itself which will be our fully featured app that will be similar in functionality to its iOS counterpart with a brand new UI and lots of great features. We really appreciate that this has taken longer than you and we'd have liked, the reality is that we've had to make some fairly major changes to the 1Password data format over the last year and so we've had to rethink how we're building this new app for Android and also make sure that it's features and UX are in line with 1Password 4 for iOS.
We love our Android users, please don't misunderstand us, but we're a relatively small team, so our development resources are limited, we've got a very dedicated and hard working Android developer on staff who's working with our designer and the rest of the team to make sure that 1Password for Android will be the app that you've wanted.
We don't like to rush things, ever, so while I know it's hard to wait then please do rest assured that 1Password for Android is coming, it's going to be great and we hope to be able to open up some Beta testing in the future, obviously not everyone will be able to be part of this though.
Are we going to rush out 1Password for Android just to stop people leaving the 1Password ecosystem, no, that would probably cause more harm than good and wouldn't reward everyone's patience.
Please do keep an eye on http://blog.agilebits.com and these forums as we'll make sure to keep everyone in the loop.Flag 0 -
Good Morning, Stu,
Believe me, I understand what you're saying: I'm a professional software developer myself. And I'm not trying to "bust AgileBits' chops", or throw out cheap threats of picking up my marbles to go home. Having said that, the fact remains that having to write down a password on a piece of paper (or an unsecure note in my phone's memory) until I can get to a desktop computer to make the change in 1Password so that it syncs to Dropbox and then back down to my phone is cumbersome and insecure. And it's frustrating.
And I will not be upgrading to 1Password 4 for Mac or Windows until I'm confident that it will work across the entire ecosystem.

We have the best customers on the planet, and I am reminded of it time after time. You obviously care enough to contact us about this. Thank you for your passion! I wish more folks in this world shared it.
We have always preferred to let the software speak for itself rather than trying to lure people in with promises of future features. In fact, I'd never encourage anyone to purchase 1Password (or any product) based on claims of future features. On the contrary, I would advise you and others to always use the tool that meets your needs as best as possible today. If that's not 1Password for you at this time, then we will keep working hard in the hopes that one day it is. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with. I have passed your feedback about this along to the developers and would be happy to pass any additional feedback to them as well.
You can create a new thread if there is something else we can help with or reach us privately at any time via email: support@ agilebits .com
Only the best,Flag 0
