DuckDuck Go Feedback
While I appreciate DuckDuck Go's objective and I can see how that fits well with 1Password, I have to admit that I am not a fan of the mobile search through the omnibar in 1Password using DuckDuck Go. I much preferred the Googles.
Hopefully, the mobile experience will improve in the future, but for now it seems to lack polish.

I can't ever find what I'm looking for with DuckDuckGo. If there is a demand for this, it would be better as an option. I don't think I've seen a single request for it so far, though.
Of course, I'm sure now we'll see folks pipe up if we switch it back to Google. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />Flag 0 -
I second Henry's motion with Google as the default.Flag 0

Thanks for the feedback! I'll try nudging the devs to see about changing this back to Google and possibly even having a user-customizable search engine.
Personally, I really want to see 1Password be a great browser on its own. Folks should want to use it instead of Mobile Safari. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -

If that's the goal, there really needs to be an option to open in browser view by default... <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -
I agree with Henry, maybe you should make it possible to select the search engine you want in the settings and not just give the user DuckDuck Go. Even using Google as the standard engine without giving the users an option to choose wouldn't be right, I think there are many people using Bing instead of Google. You should at least have options to choose between DuckDuck Go, Google and Bing (and maybe Yahoo)Flag 0

The release notes after this switch was made said Changed search engine from Google to DuckDuckGo as a test.
That left me with the impression this was temporary, but then again maybe the test was how we would respond to such a change <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -

While technically true, I think users are unlikely to notice the difference for most practical purposes, particularly on newer iOS devices. The only area in which Safari gets a speed boost is in the Nitro Javascript engine, so any Javascript based pages get a theoretical speed increase, but other aspects like normal HTML page rendering should be about the same.
The same argument was made about Chrome on iOS, but I've noticed absolutely no significant performance differences in practical use between Chrome and Safari.Flag 0 -

I can't speak for the developers, but that's my hope. I've been pushing for a bunch of changes that would really make 1Password my 1Browser.

If you're talking about the Nitro engine not being in UIWebView, you're correct. But that hasn't stopped Chrome for iOS from being extremely popular and useful. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
Aaaaaand of course I wrote that sentence before I read jhollington's post. You're everywhere! I love it and agree completely with your assessment.Flag 0
