I've read somewhere that the beta-program is to be continued. But no guarantee. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />Flag 0

We released a "teaser trailer" earlier today with the release date. Watch carefully and don't miss the credits. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Nothing about the Mac version of me has been announced yet besides the free Mac v4 upgrade for MAS licenses. Please stay tuned. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
I don't have anything to report on betas after the release, but it is certainly a possibility. You all have been immensely helpful so far!Flag 0 -
So you didn't launch/release yet? <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I think the question is valid, should we start buying the app, or continue in beta?
As in ... i'm only testing on one device, so buy for the others?Flag 0 -
You can do both as the two apps maintain their own separate data sets -- even for iCloud sync -- and will happily co-exist on the same device.Flag 0

The beta app is beta software, so, as outlined when you signed up to test:
"You agree to be solely responsible for the safety and integrity of your data, including performing regular backups to guard against data loss."
While every effort is made to make the beta builds as reliable as possible, they are for testing purposes.
Please be sure you have a stable version of 1Password on your device as well — whether 1Password 3 or 1Password 4 — from the App Store in case you are unable to access your data in the beta builds for any reason, and please make sure you have backups. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -
Hi Khad,
version 4 is on my iphone. When I change application on the beta version is the original version are changed?
Both use the same file?
Both versions can coexist without problems?
thanks <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -
Stable and beta builds do not use the same local data store. Each app is separate. However, they sync just like two apps on two different devices would. If you want them to sync, just enable Dropbox syncing in both apps. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0

Actually, will iCloud syncing work between the beta and stable version? I was under the impression that the beta version still uses a separate iCloud data store (out of necessity based on how iOS developer releases work).Flag 0

Hi guys,
Just to be clear, both the App Store and Beta apps are separate apps with their own IDs.
Apple uses these IDs to protect the app data from being interfered with by another app and it does this by matching the app's ID to a specific iCloud's documents folder. iCloud syncs your app's data accordingly by its ID.
Each documents folder is sandboxed from another app's documents folder, so an app can't get into any folder it wants, it can only understand its own documents folder as its root. It cannot leave this folder.
So, since there are two separate documents for two separate apps, iCloud cannot cross-sync the data into those two folders.
We can do this with Dropbox because Dropbox is designed to let any app see any data in your Dropbox folder as long as you authenticate the app first.Flag 0
