1Password 4 portrait layout
Thanks for a fantastic new version of 1Password for iOS! So far it's been fantastic... except for one complaint...
I really liked the portrait layout of 1Password 3 for iPad. Everything was thumb-accessible, running up either the left or right side, which made it fast and simple to access all of my data. I also liked the inline-expansion of passwords. Overall it was great to use.
The layout you designed for 1Password 4 is not nearly as useable. The horizontal slider shows far less data (or at least shows it in a far more difficult to digest layout). I love the design you're using in landscape mode. Is there any way we can see a portrait layout that more closely mirrors the landscape layout?
UPDATE: I've attached a quick mockup where I took the landscape layout and fit it into the space provided in portrait mode. I think it would be a HUGE improvement if yo went with something like it.

Agreed! Categories should be relocated to the sidebar for easier, more intuitive, access.Flag 0

I must admit I installed the beta's on a iPhone test machine only so I never saw it on a iPad. What a great shock to see 1Password 4 in portrait view, with the upper horizontal scroll bar. Reading some reviews and also some on this forum, I am not the one complaining.
This horizontal scroll bar is completely 'unnatural' to what we used to (I even don't talk about the great experience with 1Password 3) <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
Scrolling in vertical mode (Landscape mode) is so much faster and intuitive, but since my iPad is mainly in portrait mode I am forced to use the horizontal scroll bar. (for that simple reason I consider to install 1Password 3 again on my iPad. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_sadsmile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-(' />
Sorry but I truly hope you reconsider the old view. Someone else on the forum did already some work for you here http://forum.agilebits.com/index.php?/topic/11419-1password-4-portrait-layout-needs-some-love/Flag 0 -
Welcome to the forums, flec7wik! Search will be available in portrait mode in the next update. We're looking at some other things as well. Keep the feedback coming. We appreciate every bit of it and take it all into account. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0

Hi,
Firstly I like others think you do a great job. And strangely hate to complain because of that.. But..
I would like to add my voice to the ones asking for you to re think the portrait view and the categories. The top bar slide is not very useful. Or at least not as useful as if it was going down the side like in landscape view.
As it is it effectivle halves the amount of items I gac see at a glance. Portrait 6, landscape 12. Which means double the finger dragging.
Please consider a side bar that slides in and out down the side. Similar to Facebook and Words with Friends.
Many thanks.Flag 0 -

Registered just to say this. Huge usability regression for me, and i've reverted to using the old version.
Horizontal scrolling is slow and goofy. No search bar at the top is annoying as hell.
The old version had it EXACTLY right.

Ditto in every point. I don't use my iPad in landscape and the horizontal scrolling is awkward and no search is frustrating. I eagerly await the new version.Flag 0 -

I also agree. Landscape UI could be brought to portrait with minimal changes

Thanks for all your feedback folks. There is always room for improvement. Please stay tuned for the updates. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
iTunes Connect is shut down for the holidays so the App Store team can have some time with their families. No updates can be submitted right now, but we've got some coming after that. For now, the team here is also trying to be able to spend time with their families. I hope you all have a chance to do the same.
Happy holidays to you all! <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />Flag 0 -

Just adding my voice to the chorus. The horizontal scrolling lets me see very few logins at once. Although it has pushed me towards using favorites, so that I can avoid having to swipe through quite so many items…
(Personally, though, I don't agree with the "bring the current landscape UI to portait" crowd—I think that the old version's portrait UI, with one-line items that expanded when tapped, was better than squeezing two columns in vertically.)

Thanks for adding your voice, Dave! I too have found favorites incredibly helpful.
I hope you had a great holiday. Please keep the feedback coming. We really appreciate it. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0
