newbie to 1 password with some questions

bought 1password v4 for my iphone. have no clue how to add my password and websites to this app. tried to do it by playing with the app and even researched online but i cannot find any guide to do this. can you please help me do it once so that i can then do it myself after that. i also have one other question, does this app store my passwords only for websites like ebay.com or paypal.com, or can i also use it with the downloaded apps i have for ebay and paypal? thank you in advance for your help.

You can store passwords for websites, apps, your wireless router, or anything else you want to store securely. Everything is encrypted and protected with your master password.

thanks for your reply. again i want to state that im new to having an internet phone and using apps, so please bear with me. i created a login for my paypal account using the normal paypal url, not the paypal app as i dont even know how to use 1password with an app as i only see a url to enter when creating a login and when i click an app the app just opens up and i dont even see a url. when i go into 1password and click on categories i see the login i created for paypal. i click on the login and then on the paypal url and my login info is automatically entered so i can just hit log in and im now in the paypal account. now i have a few questions:



this seems like alot of work and steps to get to paypal, so heres my questions: do i have to have the 1password app open to use it or once its opened and minimized it will work? can i only access my paypal account url through all these steps via the 1password app? if i simply click on the paypal app and open it, i dont see anything there to use 1password to make my stored login appear when using the paypal app? is lthere a way to simply just click on my paypal app on my iphone desktop and have 1password automatically used to login without all these extra steps? lastly, now that i created a login for paypal, lets say im on ebays website and buy something. the next screen on ebay will be the paypal screen to pay, but since that comes up via the ebay screen, how do i get 1password to enter the password for paypal on that screen? thank you.



ps - once i learn how to do this for 1 website url and one app, ill be able to do it on my own for all my urls and apps.

lsmooth1, you can create a Login for the PayPal website which would include the URL: https://www.paypal.com



Include your username and password and then save the Login item. Then you can tap the URL in the Login item to open the PayPal website in 1Password's built-in browser and 1Password will fill in your username and password for you.



If you need to log in to the PayPal app on your device, you will need to copy and paste your password since Apple does not permit 1Password (or any app) to interact with another app on your device. 1Password can only fill passwords in its own built-in browser. It is not possible for 1Password to fill passwords in other apps due to the security policies Apple has put in place on iPhones.



To copy the password, simply tap the (concealed) password and then tap "Copy" from the menu that pops up. Then switch to the PayPal app, tap and hold in the password field, and then select "Paste" from the menu that pops up.



If you need to log in to PayPal in 1Password's built-in browser, simply tap the key button in 1Password's browser toolbar and select your PayPal login to fill it.

ok, now i understand how to use the app. i misunderstood it before. i thought it would automatically fill in any password whenever a password login screen came up as long as it was a password i creatred a login for, but now i understand how its used and i have successfully put all my passwords in the app. thank you for your help, its appreciated.

Yep, you'll need to copy and paste your passwords into other apps, but 1Password will fill your Logins on websites in it's built-in browser automatically.
