1Password as Safari Replacement: A Special Mode?
So as I use 1Password 4 more and more, I got to thinking about something... 1Password 4's browser is really excellent. I would love to use it more and more. However, it's a royal pain to constantly have to enter in my Master Password. I also don't want to remove the security feature of needing to enter it.
I would love a way to open 1Password 4 in "browser-only" mode. This could open the app straight to the URL entry. I could safely surf to wherever I want to go. If it's a quick trip to Google, or another site, no need for me to authorize and unlock my passwords. However, if I get to a site I need to login to (Amazon, etc...) and I tap the "key" icon, or the "list" icon to go back to my passwords. Then it would prompt me to enter in my Master Password, or 4 digit PIN (depending on time length in the Security settings).
I think this would be a tremendously useful addition to 1Password 4.
Let me know if you think this is an awful idea, or if I need to clarify it any more?

Yes, I agree that's a great idea. I think I had mentioned it in passing in another thread where khad had indicated that they'd like 1Password to become a viable Safari replacement.Flag 0

I also have been using 1P as my pseudo Safari browser. This sort of accessibility would be very handy.Flag 0

Just so I don't get in trouble later, I should be clear that I personally want 1Password to be a viable Safari alternative, but I don't want to speak (too loudly) for AgileBits on this. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
With that in mind, I absolutely love this idea. Anything that makes Web mode better, more get-at-able is a win in my book. There are at least a few of us pushing for this internally. I can't say we've had any push back against it — we haven't — but… Well I'll leave it to Roustem or one of the other devs to say any more.
For the record, “get-at-able” is actually listed in the OS X dictionary. That's one to grow on.Flag 0 -
Hey I am there with you guys. Its a huge PITA with me wanting to set the quick code really long (security reasons) or entering the MP often. But I also would really love to use it full time.
Hit Roustem up with this Its so great the browser other less security minded folks may actually consider shorter passwords. I know thats bad as you all do but some will do that.
So in short push harder err as hard as you can, khad <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> WE GOT YOUR BACK.Flag 0 -

I thought about that as well and I can understand your point regarding the QUC, however I've long been using a longer passcode on my iOS device itself, with "Require Passcode" set to immediate. I figure that's the first line of defence against anything on my device. At that point, the QUC is really just an extra level of "feel-good" protection, since my iPhone pretty much never leaves my hands in unlocked form.Flag 0 -
Hehe yep mine never gets far from me. I also said want to set it long. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> But being involved in security for a long time I keep it under 5 min on everything. I have also trained my self to always manually lock my phone and never just set it down.Flag 0

I would love to use 1Pass as total browser replacement. However, in order to do that I would like to see quick lock access to 1Pass browser and ability to sync bookmarks from Safari desktop browser. Regarding the bookmark sync one could assume that 1Pass desktop app could pull bookmarks from Safari desktop and then push them to iCloud for iOS 1Pass. This approach would allow me to use 1pass browser for all my browsing and finally have all my required passwords available for my iOS browser.Flag 0
