Sidebar categories vs iOS categories
Specifically, the Mac sidebar lists Logins, Accounts, Identities, Secure Notes, Software, and Wallet, while the iOS version presents all of the subcategories (ex. Credit Cards, Bank Accounts, etc) as top-level items in the Categories list. To make things more confusing, the items found in the identically-named "Logins" categories actually include different things--the iOS version combines "Logins" with "Accounts".
Just wondering what the method is to this madness or if there is an advantage that I'm missing? Any plans to bring consistency to the two platforms?
TIA!

Hey SFF
I would say we will see more parity once 1Password 4 Mac is released, or should I say if it ever hits beta. I would like to get my hands on it as well but haven't even heard hushed wishers about it. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />
I do know some of the changes mentioned in the iOS version were to eliminate confusion that the team saw in 1Password 3. Hence the accounts section disappearing etc..
Off hand my brain tells me iOS 4 is the future vs Mac 3.9 is past <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> I would say look to the iOS version for hints of the future for the Mac version.
**Just another user's opinion I have no inside knowledge of 1Password 4 Mac.. Yet there is always a beta announcement... maybe tomorrow, next week etc. They did manage to bring 1Password 4 iOS before xmas so that was a plus. When will 1Password 4 Mac drop who knows.Flag 0 -
We improved the categories in 1Password 4 to eliminate some points of confusion, but 1Password 4 has only been released on iOS so far. Once 1Password 4 is released for Mac it will be aligned with the categories in 1Password 4 for iOS.
If we can be of further assistance in the meantime, please let us know. We are always here to help!Flag 0 -
Hi,
Rather than clutter the forums with a new topic, I'm hoping this is a good place to mention a somewhat-related question. I, too, am running 1Password 3.8.20 for Mac and 1Password 4 for iOS, and I'm noticing that 1Password for Mac and 1PasswordAnywhere (Dropbox) are omitting certain fields from my login records. For example, I set up a new login today and I placed additional information (security questions and answers) in a separate "Section" in the iOS app because that was the only way to add more fields. (I labeled the section "Recovery" and you can see it in the screenshot below.)
However, when I access the same record on the Mac or the Dropbox site, only the username and password are visible.
Is this another issue that will be resolved when we get access to 1Password 4 for Mac? Or is there another way I should be storing this data if I want access to it everywhere?
Thanks!

Hi Jameson,
1PasswordAnywhere and 1Password 3 for Mac doesn't know how to read the custom data. It will require 1Password 4 for Mac to read those data. We're working on a separate update to 1PasswordAnywhere to support the custom fields but I don't have a timeframe on when either one of those updates will be available.
If you need access to it now and anywhere, you should store it within the Notes section until 1Password 4 is released for your Mac.
