Failed to setup 1PasswordAgent
Every time I launch the new 1Password I receive the following error dialog:
Failed to setup 1PasswordAgent
Please make sure the
/Users/chrissnyder/Library/
LaunchAgents
folder is writable. Please create the folder if it does not exist. It is also recommended to use Disk Utility to verify and repair disk permissions.
What can I do? Until this is remedied, I can't use the Safari extension…
Thanks in advance for any help that you can lend!

Welcome to the forums, Chris! Thanks for taking the time to contact us. I'm sorry that you are having some trouble.
Did you repair disk permissions in Disk Utility as the message indicated?
If so, and you are still having trouble please select Help > Troubleshooting > Reset Folder Permissions from the menu bar in 1Password. I can't remember offhand if that LaunchAgents folder is touched by the "Reset Folder Permissions" script, but I think it might be. Then restart your Mac and open 1Password again. Let me know how it goes.

Removing/reinstalling 1Password won't make a difference since the issue is in a folder in your user "Library" folder.
Using your browser, please download a standalone tool to run from the following link:
http://i.agilebits.c...permissions.zip
After the download is complete, use the Finder to locate it in your browser's download folder. If the browser has not already expanded the ZIP archive file then please double-click it to force it to be expanded.
The result will be a Unix Executable File script named reset_folder_permissions. Double-clicking that script file will cause a Terminal utility window to appear, and the tool will run it for you. You will be prompted to enter your OS X Admin password (what you would use to login to your Mac's account, or to install system-level software).
Any output seen in the Terminal window may help to determine additional problems with permissions on your system that could impact 1Password. Please copy the entire output (easy way: Command-A, followed by Command-C) and paste it into a response for us to look at.
It may be that running this script will allow you to run the 1Password and for it to then get its components into place and starting properly. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -
Thanks again for your help with this. I ran the script. Running the script seems to have removed the error dialog regarding the 1Password Agent, and now upon successful login I see the following dialog:
Install Safari Extension?
Safari extension is not installed. Would you like to install it now?
Please reload open Safari tabs after installaion.
After clicking the Install Now button, quitting 1Password, quitting Safari, relaunching both applications I see the same dailog asking me to install the Safari Extension. The text dump from the script is below:
Last login: Thu Jan 17 19:41:35 on console
/Users/chrissnyder/Desktop/reset_folder_permissions ; exit;
Chriss-MacBook-Pro:~ chrissnyder$ /Users/chrissnyder/Desktop/reset_folder_permissions ; exit;
Please report all output you see here!
/Users/chrissnyder/Desktop/reset_folder_permissions standalone release 1.1.2
Folder permissions will be reset to support 1Password
Please ignore any messages like the following:
chmod: No ACL present ...
If prompted for a password, please enter your Mac OS X Admin password
(it will not echo as you type, so just type it and press return at the end).
WARNING: Improper use of the sudo command could lead to data loss
or the deletion of important system files. Please double-check your
typing when using sudo. Type "man sudo" for more information.
To proceed, enter your password, or type Ctrl-C to abort.

chown: /Users/chrissnyder/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/*/extensions/: No such file or directory
The folder permissions have been reset.
Please restart 1Password and any open browsers.
Please copy the entire contents of this window (use Command-A, then Command-C)
and paste that into a reply to support@agilebits.com so we can see it.
Once you have done that you can press RETURN in this Terminal window to
end the script.

We're on the right track. To help us track down the remaining issue more quickly, could you please send us a Diagnostics Report?
In 1Password 3.8, just select Help > Troubleshooting > Diagnostics Report from the menu bar.
If you are using 1Password 3.9 (from the Mac App Store), you'll need to follow the instructions here:
http://support.agilebits.com/kb/troubleshooting/create-a-diagnostics-report-to-help-agilebits-help-you
Then attach the entire file to an email to support AT agilebits.com.
Please include a link to this thread in order that we might more quickly "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.
Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, though.
Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks in advance!Flag 0
