Search does not include encrypted contents, only Title and URL
The search function when searching notes no longer works on 1password for iPhone 4. I have reinstalled app , updated IOS4 and restarted iPhone but still not working. I store most of my info as notes, is there possibly a limit to how many notes can be searched at one time? If really like to get the search feature back...
Thanks, Vince

Vince,
The iPhone app never included the encrypted contents in the search results. That would make search very slow as it will require loading every single item and decrypting it.
For 2,000 items, search in encrypted contents takes several seconds on my Mac Pro and it will probably takes minutes on iPhone.Flag 0 -
Thanks Roustem, I'm actually not referring to the overall search function of iPhone, I understand that it cannot search encrypted data. I am referring to the search function WITHIN 1password which use to allow me to search my notes, which are shown as an alphabetical list. Any thoughts?

Anyone find an answer to this problem? I used to be able to search filter my notes from within 1password, now the function no longer works. As I have alot of, notes, I need this function back, as it used to work.

Vince,
Are you sure it is the feature we had in the iPhone app?
I know we added this to 1Password for Mac but I have no idea how it would even look like on the iPhone <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/emoticon-0138-thinking.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':?' />Flag 0 -

I'm a new user of 1Password Pro on iPhone and the v3 Mac App, and I came to the forum to see how to search my encrypted notes on my iPhone.
I like the Notes feature, it gives me broad access to useful data previously only accessible on my Mac. But, some of the files are hundreds of lines of unstructured data, making it very difficult to find the desired line in the file.
Is there some place we should be submitting feature requests, other than this forum?

As for how the feature would look, I guess that depends on how the data is structured. Some thoughts:
1. Like grep - show only the lines with the substring match. For my unformatted data, I have shell script wrappers to grep for the supplied keyword.
2. Highlighted substring matches within note: like searching in a word processor, with Back/Forward buttons to go to each instance.Flag 0 -
Hello tji,
Welcome to the forums! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
Unfortunately, the search feature in the 1Password iOS apps does not search the contents of the Secure Notes for the performance reasons Roustem described above. It may come when we get multi-core CPUs in our iOS devices, but for now only the titles are searched. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_bigsmile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-D' />Flag 0 -

Thanks for the reply. I think we may be talking about different things.. I'm not looking for 1Password data to be included in the iPhone's search, or even to search across all Notes (though, that might be nice for some). What I am asking for is to be able to search within the contents of the note I am viewing. In which case the contents are already decrypted and being displayed, so it's a simple text match.Flag 0 -
