Have Mac Desktop, MacBook, IPAD and Iphone - How many licenses do I need?

I already have a IPassword license for my new Mac Desktop. What licenses do I need to get to also have 1P on my Ipad, Iphone and MAcBook Pro laptop? Also, what is the procedure for syncing between all four of these devices?

Thanks

Bob

    Hi Bob,

Well first of all the really great news, 1Password is licensed to you, not your computer. As long as you are its only user, you can use 1Password on all your Macs with just the single-user license. Additional users require additional licenses. You can read more about our licensing policy in our user guide:

    http://help.agile.ws/1Password3/how_many_licenses.html

For your iPhone and iPad you'll want to get 1Password Pro, which is currently $14.99 in the App Store and saves you $5 on purchasing both the standard versions of 1Password for your iPhone and iPad respectively.

The best solution for syncing your Mac, MacBook Pro, iPhone and iPad is to use the new Dropbox syncing support which came with the latest version of 1Password Pro for both the iPhone and iPad, and you can take a look at our setup guide here:

    Hope all that makes sense,

    I bought 1 Password for my mac. I also own 1 password Pro (version 3.1.1-April 10 2010)

Ijust bought a new ipad. Will "pro" work on my new Ipad. If so, how do I load the app on the ipad and otherwise set it up? Thanks

    Hi,

1Password Pro will work fine on iPad, you just need to connect it to your iTunes and let it sync, it works the same way as it does for iPhone.

Also, we have recently released 1Password Pro 3.5.2, this one includes an awesome feature using the Dropbox sync as the cloud sync solution for your iOS devices and your Macs. We have a guide on how to set it up,

I agree that licensing is being an issue. I purchase 1password v1. then v2.. then v3.. the iphone app, then iphone pro app and now purchasing a windows app. Should be a consolidated option, taking into consideration past purchases, not just new bundle for new users. I appreciate the $5 here and there, but I don't even want to know the total I have spend on just 1Password.
  • I am a brand new user, I love 1 password and very interested in using it everywhere, but a bit daunted by the pricing. I am a recent Mac convert who still uses Windows at work (required). I'm also an iPad and iTouch user. I love 1Password, but if I want to adopt it across all my platforms right now, it will cost me $74.89.

    Let me type that again.

    $74.98

And that's only if I take advantage of the 'Beta' discount price for 1pwd for Windows. I understand that the App Store rules Apple imposes make it hard to offer discounts and bundles with non-App Store packages. I also understand that the Agile development team has spent a considerable amount of effort planning, coding, and testing these great applications.

But at the end of the day, I can't justify seventy five bucks for an application like this, especially when many opensource alternatives are available. Yes, free software will pretty much always be buggier, less polished, in danger of losing support (developer boredom or other issues), etc.

I would consider $50 reasonable for a suite that included 1password v3 for all 4 platforms (OS/X, Win, iPhone, iPad.) I'd probably even pay more...but the point at which I have trouble spending the money is below the current $75 price point, and definitely below the future $95 price point, once the 'Beta' purchase discount expires.

I would suggest that, if a bundle package is considered, Agile might look into some way to validate that users have purchased 1Password Pro (maybe give them a discount code with the purchase), so when they purchase an OS/X and Windows bundle, the discount is applied for being a loyal Pro user.

    Just a thought.

Thank you for being the long-time customer!

If you remember, v1 to v2 was a free upgrade. After 132 free updates, with over 1,500 changes 1Password 3 was our first paid upgrade in 3 years. Also, we used to give away 1Password for iPhone for free for almost a year and after that its introductory price was very low.

We try to keep the balance and make sure that the value you get out of 1Password is much higher than the price of the app.

I was very reluctant to begin the development of the Windows app but we had many customers asking about it. If you really need the Windows app, please purchase it. If you do not need it, please do not buy it. This way we will know if we should continue developing for Windows or not.
