I downloaded the new USB sync utility today.
Pleasantly surprised at the ease of its operation.
Much better than wi-fi sync.
Kudos to the agilebits Team!

Thank you! I am happy to hear you liked it!

  • Hi Roustem,
Are you thinking about Windows users as well?

    Hi Zazan,

It's too early to say anything right now, we're focused on getting the core OS X app ready (wifi was restricted to OS X users as well) before we can focus on anything else. The technology is there to make it possible on Windows as well but we won't officially say anything until we test it first.

  • Will you please upload 1Password USB Sync for OSX Snow Leopard?
You are probably aware that to upgrade to Lion Mac users have to buy a new Mac.

As much as we like your company, you must have realized from the Wi-Fi uproar that you have caused as much trouble to your customers (in collective time wasted) as you suggested that your less capable customers have caused your developers. The difference is that customers have paid money.

    Hi @ATS,

We're looking into the compatibility issue with Snow Leopard but it is likely the technologies we use to build the Sync tool with are no longer supporting Snow Leopard. Just as Apple have stopped supporting it, so have the tools to build new apps with.

We'll try to find a way to make it possible as quickly as we can.

As for the Wi-Fi customers, we've doing everything we can to help, we have issued total refunds for those 1Password 4 for iOS purchases who can't use cloud services and/or the USB sync. The 1Password 3 for iOS is still supported and will work with the Wi-Fi sync as long as possible with 1Password 3 for OS X, it won't stop working out of nowhere.

However, from now on, the new apps will require current hardware. 1Password 4 for iOS requires iOS 6 and above, 1Password 4 for OS X will drop support for Snow Leopard as well. The Mac App Store version of 1Password already dropped support for Snow Leopard as it requires Lion and above.

  • Thank you MikeT. Understood.

There is no need to cause you additional pain with refunds. The most important reason for staying with you is your encryption, which should be kept at the state of the art. It would be counter productive to reduce your funding.
As for this particular user's solution: kept 1P3 on iPhone & iMac, downgraded 1P4 to 1P3 on iPad mini, kept Wi-Fi sync.
I will go back to 1P4 when you are done and I can migrate to Lion. Please keep 1P3 as long as it is feasible for you.

Please note that we understand well how all this could happen since, as noted elsewhere, you did not have a good grip on users' good experiences with Wi-Fi, but only with problem tickets. It is a significant issue with any developer and it may be a good subject for discussions internally and externally so that a feedback process can be established that gives a better picture before major feature changes and alleviates such mishaps in the future.

    Hi @ATS,

Thank you, we appreciate hearing that from you and it helps. It's a tough job but we love it. The last thing we ever want to do is disappoint folks but we'll willing to help in any way even at some loss because we didn't get here by ourselves, it was with your support that made 1Password possible.

We're definitely trying to figure out how to better track our family (the 1Password users) use of 1Password. Our recent move to the new forum system is one of many steps we're taking, we want to get more folks involved in what we're doing and try to get their feedback. More will come soon.
