How To: Delete from 1Password or the browser extension
There are a couple of ways to delete items from 1Password or the browser extension, and your changes will be reflected in both places. For example, if you delete a Login from the main 1Password app, it will disappear almost immediately from the browser extension.
Deleting items from 1Password
To delete an item from 1Password, you can select it in the list and either:
- Press the Delete key on your keyboard
- Right-click and choose Delete
Delete an item from the 1Password browser extension
To delete an item from a 1Password browser extension, you can:
- Find the item you want to delete and click its right arrow or press the right arrow on your keyboard
- Click the Edit button in the upper right
- Scroll to the bottom of the item window and click the delete button
As of this writing, Logins are the only 1Password Vault item type that can be deleted from the browser extension. You can delete all other item types with the 1Password app.
Where do deleted items go?
A deleted item is not removed from 1Password entirely, just in case you decide you want to keep it after all. Deleted items get moved to the Trash, which you can find at the bottom of 1Password's sidebar on the left. While in the Trash, deleted items will not appear elsewhere in the main 1Password app or in the browser extension.
To empty the Trash, go to File > Empty Trash in 1Password, or right-click the Trash in 1Password's sidebar and choose Empty Trash.
To restore an item from the Trash, you can click and drag it into the main Vault area at the top of 1Password's sidebar. Let go, and it will be placed in its relevant Vault type.
