How To: Export to encrypted PDF

Mac OS X has powerful PDF publishing tools built right in. PDFs created using OS X's print dialogue can be encrypted to protect your sensitive data. Note that this encryption is not as strong as the encryption used in 1Password itself, so we recommend using caution when using this option.

In 1Password, select the items you wish to share, and then select File > Print from the menu bar (not File > Print All unless you want to export your entire 1Password keychain). When the print dialogue box comes up, select the PDF button in the bottom left corner and select Save as PDF:

Save as PDF

In the resulting "save" dialogue, select the button for security options:

Security for PDFs

Enable the option to require a password to open the document, and enter the password you'd like twice, then save your file as normal.
