1Password Anywhere

<div class="IPBDescription">1Password.agilekeychain on Flash Drive refuses Password</div>Running Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.4 and 1Password for Mac 3.3.0, 1Password.agilekeychain is copied to a USB Flash Drive but refuses to open when the correct Password is entered.

As this Password is regularly used to open 1Password on the Mac I am absolutely certain that the correct keys have been hit in the correct order [no Shift Key errors].

Being unable to access 1Password after many very careful attempts the Password was changed in 1Password for Mac.

The regular complex Password was changed for a very simplistic Password and the copying and test procedures repeated with success, after doing battle with the rather messy Flash Setup ‘barrier‘.

There do not appear to be any limitations on the Password to access 1Password Anywhere and it was expected that the regular Password would function.

In case it is relevant the regular Password consists of approximately 20 characters and is a mixture of Upper and Lower Case Letters, Numerals and Symbols.

Leaving the Password in simplistic mode is not an option that can be tolerated.

Any assistance to resolve this will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Stan,

Are you able to access it properly from your Mac's hard drive? To test this, just open up the Agile Keychain bundle that's stored on your computer locally, and double click 1Password.html as you would on your flash drive. If you're able to successfully open it from your hard drive then try deleting the copy from the flash drive and copying it over again.

Also, we have a troubleshooting guide for self reference here, http://help.agile.ws/1Password3/1passwordanywhere_troubleshooting.html (but of course we're more than happy to help you interactively <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />)

Thanks for the reply 1Jeff and sorry for the delay in my response, I was expecting a message to advise that my post had attracted a reply.

I followed your directions to the letter and met with success.

Having done this probably 7 to 8 times before starting this thread I can only see one difference between this last attempt and those carried out previously.

A Message Window opened this time asking if I wished to use this new keychain (or words to that effect) with two selection options, previously there was no such message and merely the Mac ‘shrug’ as it rejected the password.

The efficient and hard work carried out by Agile Development and Customer Service is greatly appreciated.

Probably due to the frequent updates and improvements and me not keeping up with the release notes I have had cause to use the online help more than normal recently.

It is possible that a reduction in queries could be achieved if the Help Items were more clearly identified.

E.g. your link above clearly pinpoints the item being covered whilst the title of the Linked Item is shown as ‘Troubleshooting 1PasswordAnywhere Issues‘ and there is nil reference to 1Password3 on the page.

Not everyone is going to be familiar with 1Password history and no condition is permanent, and often very short lived in software development.

If it exists I have not been able to find any documented reference to the above mentioned Message Window and obviously forewarning is forearming. It would also be good to be informed what to expect when reverting to ‘normal’ service.

IMHO the identification issue is perhaps at it’s worst when trying to resolve Mac to iPhone Syncing, resulting in the need to wade through lots of outdated information, i.e. clear reference to the versions covered by the respective Help Articles.

I should add that I sorted the Syncing issues I had prior to attempting to use 1PasswordAnywhere.

I am a staunch 1Password supporter and offer these comments to further improve a fantastic product.
