Dropbox Sync re-encrypts?

The way I understand it, the reason why you need to enter a master password and save it for syncing with Dropbox is that the application re-encrypts items locally with your local master password. Is there any way to have the mobile app behave like the desktop applications, and just use the same master password for the files?
On another note: I noticed that 1Password automatically grabbed my Dropbox credentials from my existing keychain sync'ed over Wifi. Freaking cool!

Well not quite that cool for me as I have multiple DB logins, oh well <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
In re to your question I dunno, but for some of us we have a really super password on the mac and then in my case still a super password but one thats a little easier on the iphone with its tight keyboard etc. I suppose you could just use the same password on both.
Still feels like maybe I missed something about your question if I did just post back. ThanksFlag 0 -
What I was hoping was that the mobile app would behave the same way as the desktop applications. If I install Dropbox on another Mac or Windows box, I just have to point it at the keychain in my Dropbox folder. The dropbox application handles syncing, the master password is the same on all of the machines, and it's only stored in memory.
With the iPhone application, it appears that it is decrypting items using my master password from the desktop side, and re-encrypting them with a local iPhone password. I can understand why some would want a different password for the mobile app as you explain; but it would be great if there was a way to automatically sync without storing a master password.Flag 0 -

The initial setup screen on the iPad will be updated to allow syncing with the Dropbox, without the need to create an empty database. We just didn't have time to make these changes yet.

This is a great idea!
I can make a change in the iPad app to not remember the master password it is the same. It is a bit tricky on the iPhone as we do not ask for the master password on startup.Flag 0 -
