iPad dropbox sync creates Conflicted entries for every original entry

This "scares" me a bit. 1Password for iPad writes that it detects a conflict FOR EVERY ENTRY and afterwards creates a conflict copy on DropBox.

Before I turned DropBox sync on I performed the Sync in the old fashion.

I've simply had to turn DropBox sync off for iPad because now my DropBox folder is filled with both

BC941356E3914EB5B50081DF64032719.1password

and

BC941356E3914EB5B50081DF64032719 (Jeppe Cramon’s iPad's conflicted copy 2010-08-12).1password

Any idea about what's going on - is this a bug?

/Jeppe

I kind of have the same issue going on... i would love to figure out how to get the conflict resolver to open up as well. As I know my desktop had the best info.

I stopped my sync because I didn't want a copy for every entry. I could see them popping up on Dropbox's Growl notifications, or at least the timing made me think so.

I had the same issue reported here, but with my iphone. Even though I had recently synced 1password on my mac and iphone using the wifi method, it took a about 20 minutes to sync using the dropbox method and then started popping up the conflict notifications (both on my mac and iphone) for a majority of my entries.

Once it was synced I was unable to open some entries in 1password on my mac, in which an error message popped up. I'm not at home now, so unfortunately I can't tell you what the error said.

    Thank god for backups.

I'd posted the following in a thread a few hours before this but I suppose it should come in here too. May have to drop the guys at AWS a line personally:

Keen to setup the new Dropbox sync feature on my iPod touch and iPad I followed the steps and began the process. I had about 500 entries in 1Password

iPod touch sync: What I've seen on my iMac (via Growl notifications) is something like "iPod touch conflict copy created". I ended up with about 200 conflicts.

iPad sync: What I've seen on my iMac (via Growl notifications) is something like "iPad conflict copy created". I ended up with about 200 conflicts.

I hardly ever make changes to my 1Password data anywhere other than my iMac so I don't know what's caused all these. If on my Mac I select my Agile Keychain in Dropbox and show package contents and open the data folder, I now have 440 files labelled "xxx's conflicted copy 2010-08-12".

If I open 1Password everything looks just the same as before - there are no duplicate entries in any section

So, do I need to do anything? Will it generate another 440 next time? Can I just open the data folder on my Mac and delete all these 'conflict' entries to reclaim the space?

    OS X 10.6.4

I had similar issue, contacted support and got this reply ... it worked for me <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Thank you for taking the time to contact us. I'm sorry about this total conflict problem. We've had a couple of reports from other users experiencing the same thing, but we don't yet fully understand what the cause is.

For iPad users experiencing this problem, we have learned from intrepid users that starting over from scratch works. This means removing 1Password from your iPad and then reinstalling it. You can remove it by pressing and holding it until all the apps wiggle. Then tap the red X. This will remove it and all its data from the iPad. So if you have any 1Password data there that isn't elsewhere, please do a wifi sync of it first.

When you connect your iPad to iTunes, select your iPad under DEVICES and then the Apps tab. You will need to check the box next to 1Password so that it will be reinstalled onto your iPad they next time you do an iTunes sync.

Once you have 1Password reinstalled, launch it, but don't do a wifi sync. Start a new database. Then set up Dropbox sync.

I'm sorry for the extra trouble this causes. We are looking into the causes of this problem.

Please let me know how it turns out.

    Thanks

Same here a few minutes ago when syncing the new iPad for the first time. I too had initially used the WiFi sync before switching to DropBox sync.

My biggest question is: "is it safe to use Finder to delete from DropBox folder all of the files containing "iPad's conflicted copy" in the name?" Or is that the correct one?

I thought I saw a message as the iPad was syncing that the conflicted copies would be put in a special folder whose name I now don't recall. But there's not one that I can find.

Hi I deleted everything in the folder, but then on my laptop I had to restore from backup as the data was no longer there, but I thought that would be easier than going through the conflicts trying to find the ones to delete.

I restored and then was back to normal .... to restart!

    Best wishes

You can find the files here:

    Open your Private Dropbox folder

Right click on the agile keychain

    Choose 'Show Package Contents'

    Open data

    Open default

    There they all are! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
