Feature Request: Password expiry dates

rob.h

I'm am using 1Password to store login details for various systems where the password expires after a period of time (this period varies between different systems). It would be really useful to have the option to set an expiry date on entries, either by entering a specific date, or by specifying a period of time e.g. 1 month from now, 3 months from now, etc.

Even for logins where the password doesn't automatically expire, this would be handy feature to prompt you to change a password after a set period, just as good practice.

PS - Like the Windows version and can't wait for it to catch up to the Mac version <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Thanks for the suggestion, Rob. That sounds like a useful feature, and we may be able to look into it for a future release of 1Password for Windows.

    1Password 3 doesn't have that feature yet, either. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />
  • As an adjunct to this, it would be very useful if 1Password could store a record of the last time a specific entry was accessed/used.

I am not suggesting a full audit trail of all dates that a password was used (although I could see that would have value), but being able to see when an entry was last accessed would provide a certain level of audit and more usefully, would aid in housekeeping!

I have just manually imported a number of saved logins from Firefox, and done some housekeeping in the process (now THAT got rid of some rubbish!!). Now that 1Password is my de-facto keychain, it would be nice to be able to periodically sort or filter entries by last accessed date so that I can remove/unsubscribe etc from sites I no longer need or use.

It would also be useful in keeping wallet items, notes etc tidy - if I don't still need the data, the most secure way to ensure that it doesn;t get compromised is to remove it from 1Password entirely <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
  • That's an interesting suggestion, Raptor, and it helps us to know it would be useful to you. We may be able to look into improving this in a future update.

    Glad to be able to make a helpful suggestion <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
  • Hey Raptor,

On behalf of David, you are very welcome!

    We appreciate the suggestion.

    Cheers!

  • An audit trail would be fantastic.
  • Thanks for the suggestion, DoctorOwl.

You should be able to see a history of strong passwords generated for a given Login.
  • +1. Really wanted feature.
  • Thanks for letting us know, EIKA.
  • Hej...

now the first entry in this thread is more than 1 Year ago...

I look to my 1PW 1.0.8.2222 and can´t find that feature you are writing above....

So what is the status for that grateful wish, please?

I can´t believe, that it take more than 1year to implement that feature?

    Thanks for info...

I hope that they never will do. Becase all non-Mac versions just ports to expand market. Actually Windows version can't be called as developed ander 'agile' concept. Never tried Mac version, but it's true for Windows.

It has nothing to do with how long the feature takes to implement, Rolf. We simply haven't gotten around to implementing it.

We receive hundreds of requests for various features, and we're constantly evaluating them, along with our own planned enhancements, in making decisions about allocation of limited resources.

Every new feature has to be developed, tested, documented, and supported; and we certainly don't wish to imply that every requested feature will be implemented. I know I've consistently written that it helps us to know what our customers would find useful. Ultimately, it's the founders' decision, based on many factors, what features are included in 1Password.

Along with the ability to respond rapidly to changing priorities, that's the very definition of agile development.

Thanks again for letting us know what you'd find useful!
  • Hej DBrown,

sorry, i think you misunderstood me... It was not a criticism that a year has gone and nothing happens. I only want to know what happens to that point, that has discussed here and i didn´t find in my 1PW...

    That was simply all.... Sorry...

  • No offense taken, Rolf! I just wanted to make sure everyone understand why their personal requests might not have turned up in the program, yet.

Thanks for the follow-up, and thanks for using 1Password!
