1P icon in Safari does not stay where I put it

<div class="IPBDescription">IP icone does not stay to the right of the Safari toolbar</div>Hi,

A few months ago I started to have a problem with the 1P icon in Safari. Every time I restarted Safari, the 1P button (initially put on the extreme left) was moving to the right corner. Since I found no solution I started to use the 1P button on its default place to the right.

Three days ago it is starting to do exactly the opposite. I think that it is related to the Evernote extention. Is there any way to make the 1P icone to stay to the right of my toolbar (I'm used to now).

Thanks

Pascal

In Safari, click View Menu, Customize Toolbar, and then in the main browser window drag the 1P icon out to the right of the search field if that is where you want it.

Hum yes. But the problem is that every time I restart Safari, the 1P icon comes back to the left. It does not stay where I put it. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' />

Completely remove/uninstall the Evernote browser extension and see if the behavior stays the same.

I have the same problem. I uninstalled the Evernote extension, and the 1P icon still does not stay where I want it. I.e., I customize toolbar and put the 1P icon on the right, restart the browser, and the 1P icon moves to the far left, just to the right of the back/forward buttons.

I'm glad I'm not the only one dealing with this small, but frustrating bug. Mine is stuck to the left every time I restart Safari. I'm using the latest versions of Safari, Mac OS X, and 1Password. I have the following extensions installed:
Sessions 1.1.2.1 David Yoo http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8247646/sessions/index.html enabled

Google Reader Tools 1.0 Andy Allcorn http://www.phantomgorilla.com/extensions/ enabled

Shortly 1.1.1 Zhusee ZZHC Studio http://zzhc.org/shortly/ enabled

Coda Notes 1.1 Panic Inc. http://panic.com/ disabled

MeasureIt 0.4.4 Kevin Freitas http://www.kevinfreitas.net/extensions/measureit/ disabled

ViewStyle Sheets 1.1 Soner Eker http://sonereker.com/labs/vss/ disabled

BuiltWith 1.1 Gary Brewer http://builtwith.com/ disabled

BetterSource 1.0 Carlos Palol http://www.awarepixel.com/safari/bettersource/ disabled

Tab Duplicator 1.2.1 Paul Kehrer http://langui.sh/safari-extensions/ enabled
If there is any other information I can provide that might be helpful in solving this issue, please let me know.

Note: I used the "code" style to take advantage of the monospaced format. It would be cool if there were a style just for that sans the color coding.

    Hi guys,

Could you see if the following command works, just copy and paste into the Terminal.app [Located in Utilities folder within Applications folder]:
defaults write com.apple.Safari ws.agile.1Password.toolbarButtonIndex 1
Let me know if it works.

OK, I have the opposite -- for seemingly no reason at all, the 1P button has moved itself to the far right. Is there a bit of Terminal magic that will move it back to the left, next to the Evernote button?

It may have already been obvious to you, but have you tried simply reinstalling the Safari extension in 1Password?

Preferences > Browsers

UNCHECK Safari

RECHECK Safari
Please let me know. Thanks!

This works -- until a reboot. Actually, the problem is more insidious than that. After performing the above steps, I purposely rebooted, just to make certain that it was working, and it was. However now, a few days later, I had to reboot again and, you guessed, the 1P button is back on the right!

    See if this works:
1. Quit Safari

    2. Open 1Password

    3. Click Help > Troubleshooting > Reset Folder Permissions

    4. For good measure, restart your Mac.

    5. Run Safari
Please let me know how it turns out.

It's working for now. I'll report back if the button runs to the other side of the browser again.

  • Guess what. Stopped Safari and restarted it and guess what? 1P icon is back on the right.

    This was without a reboot.

Any idea what's going on here?
Hi Steve,

It's Evernote interfering with the toolbar selection.

Please try upgrading to the latest version of Evernote and see if that helps. If not, try removing the Evernote clipper extension and see if that helps. Assuming it does, you can achieve much of the Evernote clipper's functionality by simply dragging the URL from the address bar to the Evernote icon in the Dock. Select the URL and click and hold for a short delay before dragging to have the text drag. Then, drop the URL on the Evernote icon in the Dock to clip the page. With this in place, many users have found they do not need to use the Evernote clipper in Safari at all.

After removing Evernote, restart Safari and you should be able to get the 1Password icon to stay on the toolbar. Alternatively, if you want to keep the Evernote icon, you can access all of 1Password's functionality from the context menu in the browser (ctrl-click on the webpage).

If you decide to remove Evernote off the toolbar, the command I gave early in this thread will restore 1Password icon back where it should be.

We’re working on improving this in the future but I do not have a timeframe on that.
