Improve Safari's Security
I know this sounds like a stupid question which has probably been addressed, but I cant find the answer.
If I can go onto safari and fill in websites, so also could someone else who uses my computer or hacks it or steals it. Isnt the purpose of this application for security reasons?
Can someone explain and tell me how to make safari secure.
Would appreciate any answer,
thanks so much,
cargil

Hi Cargil,
First of all, welcome to the forums, great to have you with us <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
You ask a really important question, and one I'll do my best to address for you.
You're right, if your 1Password data file is unlocked at the time someone picks up your computer, or it's stolen then they will be able to use the Safari extension to fill your login details. However, you can customise when 1Password will automatically lock the data file by launching the 1Password application and going to 1Password > Preferences > Security.
The main area you want to look at is the 'Auto Lock' settings, where you can control how long 1Password waits when there's no activity on your computer before locking the data file and also if it locks when you activate the screensaver or sleep your computer.
If you're in a public place you can also manually lock the data file by clicking the '1P' icon in Safari and selecting 'Lock 1Password'.
I hope that makes sense, and explains how we handle security with the browser extensions. Of course 1Password is about security but for a lot of users it's about convenience in not having to remember their complex passwords.Flag 0
