I was just going through my links and happened on the agile blog where I saw this amazing blog entry about the BETA test of 1Password for Android. That is sooooo coooooooool!

I'll be testing it out. I love 1Password on the mac and my old iPhone and have been wanting it on my Android Eris since February 2010.

Thanks!

I'll be testing it out!

    I have a few observations:

    1) I have a lot of items in my Logins list (1258 actually). It would be nice to have one of those big Android scroll tabs come up so I can alphabet through the long list to get farther down to the bottom (I know I can use the search, but it would be nice to have). Just a thought.

    2) It works on some pages, but not on others. It looks like it uses the Android browser and somehow pokes in the web form data into the page. If it has its own browser that just looks like the Android browser, then it would be nice to have a menu item that lets you fill in the webform with one of the matching URL webforms.

    Cool! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />
  • Hi Kae,

First of all, welcome to the forum and thank you for your suggestions.

I will try to add big Android scroll tab to the list, alphabet grouping of items is already in place.

I agree with you that it is very nice to have alphabetic letters shown vertically as on iPhone version of 1P

however, this feature has yet to be built into Android Framework (it is not available even in OS 2.2).

Implementing custom browser is definitely out of scope for this application, however, we should hope that

the default Android browser will become better and better (it is actually getting better in 2.1-2.2).

Please let me know what you think

    Thank you and best regards,

    Hi Gene,

I totally understand about staying with the Framework. Those vertical letters were nice on the iPhone, but I think just having that big square Android scroll box that you can put your finger on and then pull down to scroll faster would work pretty good. It takes me a long time using "swipe" scrolling to get to the x's where my email host is. I should either get a new email host or maybe just change the 1P name to something higher up the alphabet. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

I suppose if you wanted something kinda like (but not exactly like) the iPhone vertical letters you could do something like what I saw in a book app that I have on the Android. It used a grid filled with numbers to select chapters. I wonder if that would work if it was a grid filled with the alphabet? It's not nearly as pretty as the vertical letters on the iPhone, but that's one way someone else worked around that issue. I wouldn't want to subject everyone to it as there are probably a lot of users with more reasonable numbers of webforms than me (I have about 1250 right now).

    Anyway, Thanks!

    Hi Alan,

Thank you for the feedback, this big square scroll box will be added in the next release, so please stay tuned for the updates.

As for the vertical alphabet, I will need to do some research what can be done about it. Our items are shown separated by letters

however, that will be nice to click on the letter and have the list scrolled instantly to it.

I will think about this feature in the next releases.

BTW, I am currently working on the 1P - Browser integration (similar to the way 1P for iPhone works) which will enable autologin on the phone

and eliminates separate copying username and password for the webForms.

Hope you will like this feature when you see it.

    Best Regards,

Yes, finally! I don't know if you are watching what some of your competition is doing or not but Lastpass is really moving along with their Android integration.

They first started with their on browser which was fine, not great, but saved you from copying and pasting all over the place. Now they really upped the bar and have teamed up with one of the large 3rd party browser apps for Android called Dolphin HD. Somehow they have integration between the two.

I have been using Lastpass until you guys released an Android version.

Two of my most wanted wish list are:

1.) Browser integration, preferably with whatever I chose as my default (maybe even talk to the folks at xScope!)

2.) Being able to edit files on 1Password for Android and have them updated on my Mac via Dropbox.

Thx and keep the updates coming!

    Hi Gazooo123,

Thank you for your feedback,we definitely are trying to keep an eye on what our competitors are doing.

Of course, making 1P 4 Android editable (Standalone) is in our plans,so please stay tuned for the updates.

1.6.5 had an autologon feature eliminating the need to copy username/password one by one and some other important features

    our customers asked for.

Dropbox integration should also be somewhat refined, there are still some issues with Dropbox API we are using which

are reported to Dropbox Team and need to be addressed by them.

All in all, we are definitely moving in the right direction,so please stay with us on this exiting course !

    Hi papageno,

Could you please provide more information on how in your opinion Dolphin browser integration should work ?

Several other customer mentioned Dolphin browser integration and they meant quite different things by that.

I'd like to ask to describe in some details your vision on that.

I will try to research the functionality and think what can be incorporated into 1Password for Android.

    Thank you in advance,

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Gene.

Been using 1Password for Windows and the Android version on my phone. Personally what I'd like to see as far as browser integration goes is to be able to use Dolphin Browser when I use the webpage auto login from within 1Password for Android. Currently the 1Password browser opens when I use this feature (I think!).

    Thanks..

    Hi Richy,

Thank you very much for the feedback.

Actually it is not a browser opened up when you use autologin feature but a WebView Android control which has many limitations.

As for Android OS ver 2.1-2.2 we currently use, there is no way to open a browser (Dolphin or default Google browser) and populate

entry fields with username and password.

I am awaiting this functionality in future Android OS releases and will be glad to implement the feature you are describing.

    Best regards,

    Gene
