Username/password autofilled on desktop but not via 1password iPhone/iPad browser

I'm a recent 1password convert and am using it across my work Windows PC, my personal mac, an iPad and an iPhone - mostly it is working beautifully.

I have an issue with the banking website that I use, the username and password are auto-filled when I visit the page via the OSX client of 1Password, but not when I visit the page via the iPhone client.

Here is the website: https://www1.my.commbank.com.au/mobile/i/default.aspx

I have used "LoginClient" as the name for the client number field, and "Password" as the name for the password field as per the HTML source values for the 'Name' fields of these input boxes.

Do you have any suggestions as to why this would not be working properly via the iPhone/iPad version of 1password Pro and yet fills properly using the desktop client?

Thankyou

    Hi ricochet

Welcome to the 1P universe, its a very large place and growing by leaps and bunds daily.

The touch app doesn't function like this I am sorry to say. I would love it if it did. This is because of limitations placed on our interaction with the browser by Apple.

Here are a few links in regard to how the touch app works. Its not ideal or we would have a browser button in the mobile browser but until Apple changes.... we are limited. I am sorry and I feel your desire for a better experience.

ps If you are on an iPhone that supports multitasking most users like myself switch back and forth between the apps and copy out the needed data. Also you can use the built in browser. Your choice.
  • Thanks for the quick reply.

Maybe my initial query wasn't clear, but I am talking about using 1Password's built in browser to do this autofill, not safari. According to the steps in the link you shared:
To optimize your 1Password experience, therefore, we have built a web browser into 1Password for iPhone. When you tap a login item’s URL, 1Password will open the site in the browser and fill the login form.
For the site linked above this doesn't work on the iPhone/iPad, but does autofill properly when clicking the link from the OSX desktop 1Password client. Therefore I believe there is something about the mobile site that 1Password Pro isn't parsing properly?

Some sites will not work with the built in browser, the one that comes to mind for me is capitalone.

If I open 1P and tap the arrow symbol next to the login url. The site opens but the login info doesnt fill in... Then in the bottom bar touch the globe icon and you will see the user name and password dropdown from above in a banner where you can manually type the info in or copy and paste according to my phone. The paste is not working for me looks like I need to submit a report on that.

Hey you been here a little bit and already your helping fix things way to go
  • Thanks - I didn't know about that globe icon.

Clicking that after trying to autofill the site shows my correct details, I can click the arrow on that screen which I assume would usually try to autofill those again but it still fails. Copying/pasting works fine but defeats the purpose of the built-in browser a bit, I might as well just use safari and the quick switching as you originally suggested.

I'm hoping that someone is able to look at it and identify what the issue is with the HTML source of this site that stops the fields from being autofilled, it's probably occurring on other sites like the one you mentioned as well. Is this forum the wrong place to post these types of things, should I be submitting some kind of bug report or similar instead perhaps?

You can submit bugs etc here the same folks who answer support emails answer the forum questions. Then you also have the benefit of other users suggestions etc. If you send in an email make sure to include a link to this thread so whom ever gets it can connect the dots.

I am not one to look at the site but some of the others can and will.

Thanks for your time other than this hiccup how is your experience going ?
