Nonfunctioning button & toolbar

<div class="IPBDescription">after upgrading to 3.4.2</div>I'm running 1Password on Snow Leopard (10.6.4), and prior to 3.4.2 was having no problems. Now the 1P button on the main Firefox 3.6.10 toolbar looks different (the letters "1P" are shown in 2D without a border or any indication they are a button), and the button doesn't respond to clicks. The full 1P toolbar (i.e., "Fill," "Use Identity") also doesn't respond to clicks. I've resorted to opening the full application and looking up each password manually. Any thoughts would be most welcome. Thank you!

  • Hi!

Safari users are having problems also: here's the thread in case you didn't see it: http://forum.agile.ws/index.php?/topic/1874-go-fill-login-not-working-correctly-in-1p-341/

I'm doing what you are: logging into any passworded sites from within 1P. At least so far this is working OK.

That other thread lists ways of trouble-shooting, but so far those tips haven't helped most people. It's frustrating!
  • Thanks for the reply and the link, Macrina. I actually hadn't tried G&F from within 1P, but on trying it just now found that it doesn't work -- it takes me to the site but doesn't log me in.

I reset folder permissions, as advised, but nothing changed -- the 1P button in Firefox still does not function as a button (it's just text, can't be pressed), and G&F doesn't work.

Frustrating, but at least all the data is still there. Just takes a bit longer to use it.
  • I, too, am running 1Password on Snow Leopard (10.6.4), and use Firefox 3.6.10, and prior to 3.4.2 was having no problems. But now 1P icon is missing and I can find no evidence of any program integration. Still works fine on Safari though. anyone else have this problem?

I'm sure one of the first things you all tried was to reinstall the Firefox extension, but a reminder doesn't hurt:

Quit Firefox

Open 1Password

Preferences > Browsers > UNCHECK Firefox 3

RECHECK Firefox 3
Any successes?

Thanks Khad, yes, success. I hadn't noticed that this version created browser entries for each of my FF profiles, both for versions 3 and 4. I unchecked all of them except for the profile I use most frequently in FF3, and reinstalled the extension for that profile.

So -- looks good! Your help is appreciated. I hope others' problems are resolved as well.

I'm glad to hear that it is working again. That's great news!

  • I should add that when I enable the extension for FF4 (still with only the profile I'm currently using), the problem is back. Seems to have something to do with the FF4 extensions being active, even though I don't even have a FF4 build installed at the moment.

I have never installed a Firefox 4 beta, so it could be an issue with the two coexisting. I have both 3 and 4 checked in 1Password, but the the Firefox 4 extension shows up and incompatible in Firefox 3 (the only one ever on my machine). Time to download the beta and try to break things. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

I'll let you know if anything is discovered.
  • Khad, I don't have FF4 installed either, nor is there any evidence of my previous install on my machine (I know how to remove all traces of such things). Are you saying that in the 1P application, the FF4 extension is listed as "incompatible"? If that's the case, it's different from my experience, as the FF4 extensions are simply listed as other options, with no qualifications attached. If I do turn on the FF4 extension, the 1P button in FF3 and G&F functionality within 1P are both nonfunctional.

    Anyway, have fun breaking things. I know that's always fun for me. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

yup. worked for me too. somehow the extension selection was unchecked when I updated to either the new Firefox or new 1P -- an option I know I didn't touch. in any case, it's all good now. thanks.

No, I was saying that FF3 should show the FF4 extension as "Not compatible with Firefox version 3.6.10" if you look at the Tools > Addons > Extensions list with it checked in 1Password preferences. There do seem to be some reports of Firefox extension issues. We are looking into it. Sorry for the trouble, but it is good to hear that a manual removal and reinstall does the trick.

I love that part of my job is trying to break things. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /> Even if it is just software. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

My 1p was working fine until I disabled it today along with FasterFox, as I tried to diagnose very slow page rendering. After re-enabling 1P, the button didn't show up in the menu bar or customize options.

I unchecked/checked the extension in 1P preferences>browser, but it was still missing. 1P did work in Safari.

Tried it again - still nothing. I reinstalled 1P, unchecked/checked the extensions again, and when I restarted Firefox the button was there. All's well now it seems. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />

Hi Rebel, glad it's back. Sometimes, it just takes restarting 1Password then the browser after a change has been made. Anyway, glad all's well again. Let us know if you need us <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

No, two times I restarted FF after re-enabling the extension. The 1P button was missing both times, so I closed FF and installed 1P again, then it worked

    Rebel,

It sounds like your 1Password installation may have been damaged since "installing" the extensions merely copies them from within the app itself to the proper locations. I'm glad to hear that everything is working well now, though! That's great! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
