Better Dropbox integration

Hi,
I have a few remarks about 1P Pro (on the iPad), I hope you'll take those into account for a future version l-)
1 - Dropbox sync on 1st launch

I recently reinstalled 1P Pro on my iPad, and was surprised that the Dropbox Sync was not offered on the "Welcome Screen".
I could either create a new database or sync existing using WIFI, but nothing about Dropbox ...
So I chose to create a new database, but was already wondering what master password I should use : same as my Dropbox account or not ? does it matter ?
I then had to manually enable dropbox sync, and type again my master password ...
I guess you understand the need or improving this 1st launch experience <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';-)' />
2 - Enabling Dropbox sync will Merge logins with existing on the iPad

Enabling Dropbox sync will merge... that is not the best, actually I thought it would wipe out everything and start over !
--> It should ask :
-Do you want to merge ?
-Do you want to erase all and sync with Dropbox ?
Like when we enable MobileMe contact sync or Google Sync contact sync.
3 - Unrelated to Dropbox, but there is no RESET database in the iPad side of 1Password Pro, unlike on the iPhone.
thanks, hopefully those ideas will help to make 1P better <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';-)' />

Absolutely, the first launch experience of any application is vital to ease-of-use. We're working on adding Dropbox to the 'Sync Existing' option within the welcome screen, so users have the choice between both Wi-Fi and Dropbox. Our designer is hard at work making sure the process is as easy to follow as possible, our focus for the first versions of 1Password for iOS with Dropbox integration has been to make sure the sync itself is working without issues, then we can make sure the user experience is the best it possibly can be.

That's a very interesting point, I guess we just assumed that users would want everything to merge, and as such bring all the data from the iPad / iPhone to the desktop and vice-versa. I'll certain raise of the idea of a choice of how the sync is performed to our developers.

The idea of the 'Reset Database' option on the iPhone is in case you forget your master password, which is a secondary level of authentication on the iPhone to allow users to easily access the interface and selected 'low security' items without having to type a complex master password on the iPhone's keyboard. With the iPad, the keyboard is much better and so typing a master password is easier, therefore the only way to reset everything is to delete the app and reinstall.

thanks Stu !
I look forward to seing Dropbox SYnc integrated in the 1st run experience !
Thanks for forwarding the "Merge" issue when changing Dropbox Sync account, or even just starting to sync 1P Pro with Dropbox, as this one is quite important <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' /> I needed this when helping out my dad with his keychain 9000km away from him, I was surprised when I saw 1P start merging his keychain with mine after switching to his account <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_tongueout.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-P' />
The lack of RESET on iPad is fine I think, because it's what every other iOS app is doing. I understand the reasoning here, it's just strange that the iPhone has it and not the iPad, as a user I looked for it everywhere before deleting the app and reinstalling it <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';-)' />Flag 0 -

Phew. Glad to hear you got that sorted out. Troubleshooting for the parents is always a hoot, especially when I say, "Oops!" They trust me enough at this point, but it's still not something you want to hear. At least they raised me to believe it's better to ask forgiveness than permission. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />
Thanks again for the insightful suggestions. I can certainly see how that could all convene to be a bit more difficult than it needed to be. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />Flag 0
