Failed to create 1Password Interchange File

<div class="IPBDescription">Failed to create 1Password Interchange File</div>I'm trying to merge my two password databases and doing the export thing as suggested elsewhere on this forum. Doing an export all ends with "Failed to create 1Password Interchange File" which isn't true because files are created but cannot trusted due to this error messages. Is this a known bug ?

    Hi willem,

I'm sorry that you're having this problem. This is not something I have come across. Please try rebuilding your data file and rexport:

    Help > Troubleshooting > Rebuild Data File…

Please let me know how it turns out.

    Thanks!

Tried that, no joy. Created a new datafile, restored back no joy. Exported keys ignoring the error, deleted datafile, created new one, imported data, exported again and hurrah no errors. It seems the datafile was messed up ?! I did copy the datafile from one system the other and back perhaps a file was left which shouldn't have been there ? What is the proper way to share the datafile between systems without using dropbox (the reason being is that there is plain data like the website I would feel better with a complete encrypted database)

I am glad to hear that everything is working well. It sounds like perhaps a copy error. You should be able to simply copy the "1Password.agilekeychain" file from one Mac to another with no problem (assuming there was no error on the part of the OS, etc.).

I encourage you to read our documentation with regard to the security of your data on Dropbox. No one can see even the unencrypted parts of your data file.

    http://help.agile.ws/1Password_touch/how_secure_is_syncing.html

And Dropbox's own documentation on the subject:

    https://www.dropbox.com/help/27

Of course, your data is your data, and I certainly can't make the decision for you. I trust my data to 1Password and Dropbox every data, but please do what you feel comfortable doing.

    Cheers! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
