Logins not listed in Safari Go & Fill

Well, I have the exact opposite situation that the forum name describes. When I try the software before buying it, I opened my browser, click my 1P icon and in the GO & FILL option my logins will be display under the search option. If I select one of the logins, the program asked me for my main password. That was the behavior I was expecting, only one keyboard use (I do everything with the mouse).

After I decided to buy the software, this behavior change like this. Turn on computer, open browser, click my 1P icon, and in the GO & FILL option I only see the option search, so I have to use the keyboard to find the login I'm looking for, and the the program asks for my master password.

Every now and then, I haven't been able to figure what's the rule, my GO & FILL option only shows me SEARCH even after I login with my master password.

I want to go back to the first way to do things, is there anyway to do it?

Thanks for the information and forgive my english, not my native language.

    Hi Akhepra,

Welcome to the forums! I hope you don't mind that I move this post to its own thread. I think it deserves a bit more attention that being at the bottom of another topic. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

Have you tried clearing your cache? Open the 1Password application and then find it in the menu:

Help > Troubleshooting > Clear Cache

I hope that helps. Please let me know how it goes.

This problem should be fixed in 1Password 3.4.3.BETA-3.

We hope to have an official release soon.
  • I guess I leave this forum unattended for a while.

I now have de 3.5.3 version but the behavior of the safari plugin stills the same. Every time I start Safari, the GO & FILL option of the 1P button only displays SEARCH.

Either I select SEARCH and select and option to see the master password screen or I have first to UNLOCK 1 PASSWORD and only then the GO & FILL option will display all my logins.

What should I do to restore the option to see the GO & FILL option without having to do so many steps?

1Password Preferences > Security > UNCHECK "Disable automatic unlock for all applications" if that is not already unchecked. 1Password will lock and unlock in accordance with your settings in preferences, though. So, if you have just turned on your computer, you will need to unlock 1Password no matter what. Otherwise, take a look at the rest of your security settings and let me know how it turns out.
  • Hi, I tried unchecking the DISABLE AUTOMATIC UNLOCK FOR ALL APPLICATIONS options but the response is the same. Every time I start my browser and click the 1P button option GO & FILL the only thing listed is SEARCH...

A long time ago when I did this, I could se my logins and ONLY when I pick one, the master password window appear. I thought it was very quickly to open the application, only the master password and the login that I picked was opened. Now its a two step process, unlock the application and search my login.

Is there anything I can do to do it as before?

    Thank you
  • Hi Akhepra,

If your 1Password data file is locked, so if you've just started your browser and haven't yet unlocked 1Password then, yes, you'll see just the 'Search' option until you unlock 1Password.

This is a change that we made in response to overwhelming concern from our customers regarding the security of displaying the titles of items stored in a locked 1Password database. (No encrypted data is ever available without entering the master password. The data in the menu structure is part of the unencrypted contents of the data file.)

If you really want to see your Login items when 1Password is locked, there is a hidden preference that will allow you to always show the menu. To activate this, please launch Apple's Terminal application (found in /Applications/Utilities/) and run this command to revert the behaviour:
defaults write ws.agile.1Password AlwaysShowBrowserGoAndFillMenu 1
Restart 1Password and your web browser to put the changed setting into effect.

    Hope that helps,

  • Thank you very much, that's exactly what I was looking for. I understand the need for encrypt even the name of the logins, but in my home computer I don't need to be so overprotective.

The solution worked like a charm and I understood how to change back that option.

    Great app by the way

    Thank again.
  • You're very welcome, Akhepra!

The titles of your Login items aren't currently encrypted, though this will change in a future update as we've had many requests for this. In reality, an attacker can gain more information about the sites you have accounts with via your browser history.

    Glad the change helped and you've got 1Password setup as you wanted <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
