How To: Encrypt your iPhoto Library using Knox
Encrypting iPhoto libraries is quite simple using an encrypted Sparse bundle. Knox makes this all the easier through its interface. Follow the bullet points below to encrypt your iPhoto library, and force iPhoto to request a password every time someone opens it. I use this method myself and have no troubles however I would highly recommend backing up your library beforehand.

Backup your iPhoto library. (This is most likely located in your /[username]/Pictures folder, under the title ‘iPhoto Library‘. Copy this file to an external hard drive.)

Create an encrypted Sparse bundle using Knox

Cut and Paste the original iPhoto library into the new sparse bundle

Create an alias of the ‘iPhoto Library’ in the Sparse bundle by right clicking on it and choosing ‘Create Alias’

Move the Alias located in the Sparse Bundle to the location of your original iPhoto library, and rename it to ‘iPhoto Library’, and accept when it asks you to replace the original. (Be sure you have backed up the original somewhere else)
There you have it. Now every time someone opens your iPhoto Library, they will have to enter the password for the Sparse Bundle.

Thanks for the tip, moclippa! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
I have not tested this, but it sounds pretty foolproof. I'd love to hear from any others users who are doing this. Very cool!Flag 0 -

Okay, that is pretty awesome. I just did it, and now my entire photo collection (incl. compromising photos of Khad for future blackmail purposes) is nice and secure! Thanks, mo! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />Flag 0
