1Password crashes Safari

Currently using 3.4.4, but crash occurred on previous versions. I had reported this on the company website a few weeks ago, but as I didn't receive a reply, I thought I would post the problem here.

The problem seems to only occur when I haven't logged onto 1P for the day - as when I start my computer in the morning.

I boot up my Mac. Open Safari (5.0.2). Use a 1P link to log onto either TDAmeritrade (and just found this morning) SunTrust Bank. 1P asks me to enter my password to enable 1P. I enter my password. 1P begins to log Safari onto either site and then crashes. I get the Safari crash box. I must right click on the Safari icon in the Dock and completely shut down Safari before it will restart.

This only occurs only when I try to log onto either TDAmeritrade or SunTrust (there may be other sites that I haven't found yet) and I haven't password enabled 1P yet.

Thanks for the great program.

    Hi LakeDaisy,

I'm really sorry to hear that no one got back to you before. It's possible that there was a momentary glitch in the system and your message was never sent. We have certainly been getting lots of other e-mails. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' /> In the future, you can contact us directly at support@agile.ws (or post here as you have done). Sometimes, if it is a common issue, it can be better to post on the forums so that others can benefit from a solution as well.

Try disabling the 1P browser extension in Safari (1Password Preferences > Browsers > UNCHECK Safari) and (after rebooting) log in by copying and pasting your information from 1Password. If the crash still occurs, it is most likely an issue with the site and not 1P.

If it does not occur, please reenable the 1Password Safari extension and then try to reproduce the crash. As soon as it occurs, please generate a Diagnostics Report from within 1Password (Help > Troubleshooting > Diagnostics Report) and send the report to the aforementioned e-mail address along with a link to this forum thread so we can "connect the dots."

Please do not post the Diagnostics Report here.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

Hello Krad. Did the above. Safari doesn't crash anymore. Looks like UNCHECKING and RECHECKING the extension took care of the problem. Funny, I have been putting up with the crash for months. Some times I would remember before allowing 1P to log me on and crashing, when I didn't, all of my open Safari windows would close out. Thanks Krad. Takes care of that problem.

It sounds like a simple matter of Safari loading an older version of the extension. Unchecking and then rechecking that box removes and then reinstalls the extension (with the current version).

I am glad to hear that everything is working well for you now. That is great news!

You may also want to try the Sessions Safari extension by David Yoo. It can automatically restore your windows and tabs after a Safari crash. Even without the extension, Safari has a built-in "Restore All Windows from Last Session" item in the History menu for manually restoring your browsing session after a crash (or just after a planned reboot).

    Cheers!
